The ancient Russian city of Valdai enjoys great fame among ufologists and ordinary hunters for flying saucers. Every now and then there are unidentified objects and unexplained phenomena occur.
“It was in the evening, I was returning home by bus from my daughter from neighboring Borovichi,” says Tatyana SVETLOVA, a resident of the village of Roshchino. - There were not many people in the cabin, basically everyone was dozing, the light was off. All of a sudden, the engine stalled out. And some of the passengers will scream! I looked out the window: a white shiny ball was hanging, flattened at the top and bottom. None of our local people were surprised - they got used to it already. But the newcomers groaned and gasped.
The Valdai people are really accustomed to multi-colored balls, flashes and other heavenly lights and signs. The ME columnist was told so much that a whole newspaper would not be enough. But the main thing is that the locals not only passively observe, but conduct research and build their own versions.
Here is one of them, which was put forward by the photojournalist of the regional newspaper Nikolai ORLOV, who made many photographs of the mysterious "balls". Investigating the strange phenomenon, Mr. Orlov came to the conclusion that most often the unidentified objects that appear over the forest and lake are similar to the traces of nuclear reactor emissions when launching rockets from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, located exactly to the north of these places. Usually "plates" are seen on the north side. However, the photographer did not find a reasonable explanation for the facts of the appearance of objects from the south or west.
There is one more person in Valdai who, according to him, knows what's what. This is a geophysicist, a member of the Leningrad Geographical Society, now a pensioner Panteley PROKHOROV.
