It's no secret that most critics of the Flat Earth theory have very peculiar ideas about it, often not finding anything in common with it.

Partly these misconceptions are generated by the general illiteracy of critics, partly artificially created and spread through the Masonic lodges, with the aim of denigrating Christianity.

We will give a few of the most common myths, and give a short explanation to each.

Myth number 1

The earth stands on four elephants, and they are placed on the back of a giant turtle.

This absurdity arises from the ignorance of the ancient Hindus, who did not have biblical knowledge; but the persistence with which it is replicated in books, textbooks and the Internet suggests that there is a strong interest in its dissemination.

In fact, the Bible describes the foundations of the earth in two ways:

in some verses they are characterized as “pillars” (Job 9: 6; Psalm 75: 4; Isaiah 24:18, etc.), and in some - as “nothing” (Job 26: 7). What does this mean? This means that the nature of the foundations of the Earth is inherent in a dualism, like that described by the wave-particle theory of light, only more complicated. No turtles, whales, etc. in the Bible there is no speech.

Myth number 2

In Flat Earth conditions, all water must inevitably drain from the disk into the abyss.

This misconception is born of the primitive mind of atheists who did not bother to familiarize themselves with the theory of the Flat Earth.

In fact, the Earth is surrounded by an ice wall, a pile of age-old ice that prevents water from flowing down.

Myth number 3

The Orthodox tradition does not support Flat Earth ideas.

This myth was generated by anti-Russian forces wishing to split the Orthodox community. In fact, the Orthodox Church gave birth to such well-known adherents of the flat-earth theory of the world as Kozma Indikoplevst (author of "Christian Topography") or priestly women Job (Germans), author of the book "The circle of the earth is motionless, the sun is walking"; and many others.

Myth number 4

Round-the-world voyages of Magellan, Cavendish, etc. allegedly proved the sphericity of the Earth.

In fact, the travel data did not prove anything at all. The ships left the port, described a very intricate CURVE trajectory (maps with the marked route were preserved) and returned to the same port. Each of us, going to the bakery in the morning, does about the same thing, only on a smaller scale.

Myth number 5

If you get to the edge of the Earth, you can fall from it.

In reality, in the place of convergence of the Heavenly and Earthly firmaments lies the horizon of events, so for an observer from the side, a person will stand on the edge of the disk for eternity and will never fall. This place is a space-time anomaly, and many physical laws in it do not work or work differently.

Myth number 6. No intelligent person would believe in a Flat Earth.

To refute this typically atheistic point of view, it is enough to cite several names of prominent supporters of geocentrism and specifically Flat Earth: Augustine the Blessed, Thales of Miletus, Anaximander, Anaxagoras, Leucippus, the holy prophets Isaiah and Job, the Apostles and the Lord Jesus Christ himself.

Myth number 7

Taking into account the constant acceleration (9.8 m / s) of the Earth's disk, in 7500 years the Earth should have reached or even exceeded the speed of light.

This is a mistake created by the sleep of the mind of atheists who have reliably ignored Einstein's Theory of Relativity.

According to TO, the dependence of speed on time looks as follows: u (t) = (u0 + at) / sqrt (1+ (u0 + at) ^ 2 / c ^ 2). If we consider this function, it is easy to see that at low speeds the denominator differs negligibly little from unity, which gives the well-known dependence v (t) = v0 + at; while as the speed increases, the relativistic correction increases, and the final speed will approach the speed of light, never reaching it.

These are the naive and delusional ideas of our opponents. I would like to wish them a better study of the subjects underlying the Flat Earth theory. For, as the Scripture says, "you will know the truth - and the truth will make you free." (John 8:32)
