Spanish scientists from the University of Navarra have found that people living in the mountains have significantly better health than residents of low-lying areas. They are less prone to metabolic disease.

In a new study, the Spaniards have received several thousand people. During the observation of the test groups and the subsequent analysis of the collected data, it was found that people living in mountainous areas are significantly less likely to suffer from various cardiovascular diseases, in contrast to residents of lowlands. At the same time, most people in the United States and Europe between the ages of 30 and 50, living in flat areas, are much more likely to suffer from numerous metabolic disorders, such as: diabetes, obesity, arterial hypertension and coronary heart disease.

Many researchers argue that such results are due to the fact that the air in the mountains is cleaner and polluted by regular emissions of harmful substances and gases into the atmosphere. In the highly urbanized lowlands of Europe and the United States, the air is extremely polluted, which causes frequent health problems for their inhabitants.
