The story of Noah's Ark and the Biblical Flood is known to everyone, but most people believe that this is a myth. However, Robert Ballard, a renowned underwater archaeologist, believes he has found evidence that this story is based on true events.

Robert Ballard, professor of oceanology and underwater archaeologist, became famous for his outstanding finds: in 1985, he discovered the wreckage of the Titanic using remote control devices.

Ballard now uses even more advanced technology to travel back in time. An underwater archaeologist intends to prove that the Biblical Flood, or its analogue, actually occurred.

“12,000 years ago, most of the world was covered in ice. Where I live now, Connecticut, there was just a big ice cube. But then the glaciers began to melt, which led to a rise in the level of the oceans. We asked ourselves a question - was it the same global flood?”, - says the professor of oceanology.

According to a controversial theory put forward by two Swiss scientists, the Black Sea was once an isolated freshwater lake surrounded by agricultural land, but due to the melting of glaciers, the Mediterranean Sea collapsed on fertile lands with a force two hundred times greater than the power of Niagara Falls, and buried all life in the depths.

“We went to the Black Sea and, using unmanned robots, discovered an ancient coastline at a depth of 400 feet (122 meters). After doing radiocarbon analysis, we came to the conclusion that the catastrophe occurred more than 5,000 years ago. In addition, we found the remains of shellfish that ceased to exist 7,000 years ago,”- describes the findings of the research team Ballard.

Many scientists and archaeologists were skeptical about both the expedition itself and its results. But this did not cool the ardor of the underwater archaeologist, who returned to the waters of the Black Sea.

“We focused on looking for structures that resemble man-made structures. At first, our remote sensing devices found piles of pottery, but then we stumbled upon perfectly preserved materials that resemble wood. Looking more closely, we realized that we were in front of the remains of a femur.

We also found the remains of an ancient shipwreck. All these items are perfectly preserved due to the fact that there is practically no oxygen in the waters of the Black Sea, which means that the decay process slows down significantly. I don't think I can find Noah's ark, but I will definitely prove that there really was a flood. We will return to our research site to find the flooded villages and the remains of their inhabitants,”said Robert Ballard.
