Legend has it that fairies gathered at the site of this medieval castle.

Ruzica Grad is the largest castle fortress in Slavonia, Croatia, with an area of over 8000 square meters. Since the origin of the medieval structure remains unknown, over the years it has become a legend. According to the legend of Ruzica Grad, this castle was a meeting place for fairies, where they made magic potions.

The fairies met quietly here, until one day a nobleman decided to build a fortified city right on this place. The fairies, frightened by this threat, used their magic to disrupt the noble's construction plans.

Annoyed by this, the nobleman decided to set up a net around the construction site. The hair of the most beautiful fairy, Ruzica, got entangled in a net and she was caught. As a warning to all fairies, the nobleman placed Ruzica in the foundation of his city.

However, the fabulous curse did not end there. As soon as the completion of the building was announced, the stone slipped and killed the nobleman, ending his bloodline. On the other hand, the name of Ruzica still lives on in the name of the old fortress.
