A giant statue of a mysterious beast guards the secret of the elixir of immortality. The alchemists of the Middle Ages literally prayed for Hermes Trismegistus (Hermes Three times the Greatest). According to legends, he was the founder of esoteric knowledge, who owned the secrets of the production of the "philosopher's stone" with which any metal could be turned into gold. Little is known about the personality of Trismegistus himself. It seems that he was the son of an Egyptian god named Thoth, and built the first pyramid on the banks of the Nile. And more specifically - in the depths of the statue of the Great Sphinx.
The mysterious Sphinx, frozen at the foot of the pyramids, fell into their shadow, literally and figuratively. A camping laboratory with various analyzers and a powerful computer was installed near the monument. Specialists from Egypt, Germany, USA, Japan, France gathered for a kind of consultation. We started by scanning the damaged head with ultrasonic emitters. Dangerous cracks appeared inside. The opinion of experts was as follows: in the twentieth century, the Sphinx was damaged more than in the previous 4,000 years. Hundreds of millions of dollars are needed to save the sculpture.
Having made this conclusion, the members of the council departed. They could not get money. The Egyptians began to restore the statue on their own. Large cracks were repaired, the pedestal was strengthened, and the fragments that had fallen off were found and replaced. The British were required to immediately return the beard and put it in place to strengthen the 900-ton head of the Sphinx. The emergency condition and the beginning of the repair of the ancient sculpture caused a new interest of science in the mysteries of the Sphinx. The most curious studies were carried out by Japanese scientists. Tokyo archaeologists, headed by Professor S. Yoshimura, illuminated the Sphinx statue and its surroundings with sonars. And they came to the conclusion - the stones of the sculpture are older than the blocks of the pyramids. Let's make a reservation, the experts did not mean the geological age of the rock from which the "lion with a human face" was made, but the age of the sculpture itself,that is, the processing time of the stone.
Then the Tokyo scientists gave a second sensation: the electronic equipment showed a narrow tunnel under the left paw of a stone statue leading towards the pyramid of Khafre. It starts at a depth of two meters and slopes downward. It turned out to be impossible to trace it further, but Professor Yoshimura promised to create a new device specifically for the study of this underground passage.

After a while, a team of hydrologists settled down at the pedestal of the stone lion. And a new sensation: traces of erosion from a large stream of water were found on the base of the statue. Perhaps this is a hint at a treasury of knowledge that can really drastically change the life of the people who discovered it. But it is also possible that this knowledge is for us no more than a historical value, that our civilization has already passed the path of the Atlanteans again, and even far ahead of them. There is, however, another option that there is nothing in the womb of the Sphinx except a cold stone. Where is the truth? The Sphinx is still silent.
