A "zone of silence" refers to a small area in Mexico. And it is called so because neither the state authorities, nor the locals, nor many of those tourists who have visited there are spread about the events taking place there. However, there are those who are not afraid to talk about what they saw, otherwise the “big world” would not know anything about this territory.
This zone is located in a barren desert, near the American state of Texas. All electrical appliances, including radios and televisions, go out in this place. In addition, meteor showers very often occur here, local animals and plants mutate due to the abundance of ultraviolet cure, and many eyewitnesses told about UFO sightings. It is interesting that earlier in this region, seared by the heat, leaving almost no chance for a person to survive, people willingly settled, creating entire villages. In our time, however, there are no permanent settlements in the "zone of silence" - the former residents have left here.
The fact that something incredible is happening in this area has been known since ancient times, but any study of this area was started only in the thirties of the twentieth century in connection with the development of aviation. Mexican pilots suddenly began to notice that in this area their radio stations were suddenly denied.
The oddities, however, did not end there. When the Americans launched a ballistic missile in the 70s, it, flying over this area, suddenly deviated from the course and fell in the desert, not reaching its target. Subsequent launches were overshadowed by similar incidents, and this forced the military to begin exploring this desert area.
However, the first data on the nature of the "zone of silence" were obtained earlier. Chemical engineer Harry de la Peña was doing his research in the Mexican desert in 1964, when suddenly his walkie-talkie failed. He returned to the base to fix it, but it turned out that it was working properly. When the scientist returned to the area, the radio went out again. Later, Harry de la Peña gathered a research group and tried to study the "zone." Then it was possible to establish that a huge magnetic force acts in this area, which explains the fall of missiles, the failure of compasses and electronic equipment.

But what is the source of this magnetic force?

For the systematic study of this territory, the Mexican government built an entire town in its very center. Scientists working here have dubbed this area the "Tethys Sea", since the prehistoric ocean of the same name was originally located here.
In 1975, a mysterious story with the Diaz spouses happened here
They were entrepreneurs and amateur archaeologists; they came here to study the "zone of silence" and intended to collect unusual stones and remains of ancient animals. Suddenly a thunderstorm began and a pouring rain poured down. The couple hastily loaded the finds into their pickup and tried to drive away, but the car got stuck in the resulting swamp. Suddenly, two strange figures appeared in the distance; they were very tall, wearing yellow suits with hoods (or hats). They offered their help to the Diaz spouses and went to the back of the car. The couple did not have time to figure out what was what, as the car was suddenly pushed out onto solid ground. There were no mysterious assistants nearby.
Often, eyewitnesses talk about fireballs rapidly moving over the earth. They appear instantly and disappear just as quickly, leaving behind only scorched bushes and grass. For some time they can hang motionless, shimmering in different colors. Several farmers once came across the same ball on their way home, only of a large size; two tall humanoids emerged from it, which glowed with the same color. The aliens moved in their direction, but the farmers found strength and ran away.

Around the same time, in the town of Keballos, which is the closest settlement to the "zone", an alien rectangular ship suddenly appeared. Terrified residents started calling the police. They reported that the UFO frightened even the dogs, which began to bark at it. After a while, the object picked up speed and flew away towards the "zone of silence".
In the nineties, the ranch, located on the outskirts of the "zone", gained fame. In those years, he was visited from time to time by a company of three young people - two men and one woman. They were very tall, with long blond hair, but strangely dressed. They spoke Spanish well, but their voices had an enigmatic musical accent. The guests were very polite and friendly; each time they asked the owners for water - and nothing else. When the farmers decided to ask them where they came from, the guests smiled and answered: "From above".
There were similar reports from other nearby ranches. In some cases, guests paid for the water with bars of pure gold. Sometimes, as in the case of the Diaz spouses, strange strangers appeared in the desert itself - in those moments when people were in trouble. They offered their help, while trying to pass themselves off as ordinary local residents; but they did not succeed in the latter - they did not have any backpacks, containers of water and other items necessary for movement in the desert, and their clothes did not look very much like the clothes of Mexican farmers.
Tall, beautiful blondes are not the only inhabitants (or guests?) Of the "zone of silence". Eyewitnesses also reported encounters with humanoid creatures only a few tens of centimeters tall. They were dressed in silvery suits and had helmets on their heads. Their appearance was accompanied by interruptions in the operation of electrical appliances and automobile engines; when the aliens disappeared, the equipment suddenly began to work normally.
One gets the impression that several parallel worlds inhabited by various intelligent beings simultaneously coexist in this "zone". From time to time, their worlds can intersect with ours, and then fateful meetings of people occur with giants, then with dwarfs.
How many years, centuries or millennia have the "oddities" been going on in that mysterious area?
Archaeologists have discovered an artifact that proves their primeval antiquity. These are the remains of a huge stone palace, which are very many hundreds of years old, although the exact age of the find has not yet been determined. Researchers believe that this is an ancient astronomical observatory. If so, the people who lived here in ancient times were highly developed; but it may well be that this is the work of space aliens. It is possible that the ancient owners of the observatory were interested in the same meteor showers that were mentioned earlier.
Of course, there are also skeptics trying to explain the events taking place in the “zone of silence” by more natural reasons. For example, the impressive magnetic field can be attributed to the rich deposits of iron and uranium ores. And "unidentified flying objects" may turn out to be the secret weapon of the American troops, which they are testing in this barren desert. Test sites in deserts are a fairly common phenomenon in modern military affairs.
An interesting fact is that the "zone of silence" is located on the same parallel as the Bermuda Triangle and the Egyptian pyramids. In this very arrangement, supporters of anomalous phenomena see a kind of mystical connection.
There is a possibility, however, that the noise around the "zone of silence" was provoked by the authorities to attract tourists to the region. And eyewitness reports may be fictitious. The history of the twentieth century is replete with such cases. For example, in one Serbian town, local authorities officially warn tourists and local residents that the ghost of Sava Savanovic, the famous Serbian vampire, whose image was generated by folklore, is walking around the city. The Bulgarian prophetess Vanga turned out to be an employee of the local special services, and the campaign with the “prophetess” itself was the most successful tourist advertising campaign in the world: thanks in large part to the income from numerous pilgrims, Bulgaria turned from the poorest country in the world over several decades (data from the first third of the 20th century) one of the richest, according to the data from the early 1980s. After the death of the "prophetess" Bulgaria very quickly lost this status - now it is among the poorest and most undeveloped in Europe.
Ghosts in old castles, hotels, "historical houses" are sometimes also officially recognized by local authorities as real. And often, after such official patronage, the tourism industry in these places really revives. Let us recall that the scientific town in the center of the "zone of silence" was also built by the state, after which the popularity of this place among tourists and its attendance increased significantly.
There are similar phenomena in Russia
Dolmens in the Gelendzhik region are a very popular tourist attraction - thousands of pilgrims come here to "meditate". Actually, the "pilgrims" are attracted not by the stone buildings themselves, but by the mystical halo that has been created around them since the 90s. There are hundreds of related books and brochures in local gift and bookstores - and not a single scientific book.
The Mexican "zone of silence", by the way, is far from the only "abnormal" place in Latin America. Especially there are many such places in Brazil, Argentina and some other South American countries. The stories about them are entertaining urban legends that are actively used to attract tourists.
