In India, a young girl gave birth to her first child and additional arms and legs protruded from the belly of a female baby. They were body parts of her unborn twin sister.
This is called a parasitic twin or parasitic twin. It is very rare.
The body parts of the twin parasite are firmly adhered to the body of a healthy baby, including to its internal organs, receiving blood and nutrients from them.
To save the baby from a dangerous "freeloader", it was decided to operate the child, but at first the doctors waited until she grew up a little and got stronger.
When the girl was seven months old, she underwent surgery at Tura Civil Hospital, Western Garo Mountains, Meghalaya State. The operation to separate the parasitic limbs lasted two and a half hours and was successful.

The parasitic twin develops like a normal twin, but at an early stage, for various reasons, begins to receive less nutrition than his brother or sister. When his body stops developing and growing, he is partially or completely absorbed by the body of the second baby. The exact mechanism why this happens is still unknown to doctors.
The most common cases of twin parasites are found in China and India. First of all, due to the fact that these countries simply have a very large population. But some also blame the tradition of closely related marriages for this.
