In July 1984, our team of speleologists arrived at one of the caves in the mountains in the North Caucasus. A tent camp was set up near the entrance. At night, on the eve of the descent into the cave, one of ours stirred up the whole camp.

"Come out," he shouts, "fireballs fly here!" Indeed, they flew. I myself saw two tennis balls. They glowed dimly, with a dark yellow light. They were in sight for a few seconds and disappeared. How many of them there were, no one could say. Maybe a couple of three, maybe a dozen. By dawn they all disappeared completely.

At about noon, they began descending into the cave. We walked some distance, stopped to rest. Suddenly we notice that a light flickers at the far end of the tunnel. We decided there was someone there. Let's go take a look.

We got to the turn, turned and saw: with their backs to the stone wall, like idols, there are two about 2.5 meters tall and are looking at us. At the first moment I thought that they were wearing masks. White naked heads, black eyes. And in front of them, these glowing balls fly, like those that we saw at night.

We, without saying a word, quickly went back. And among us was an instructor, a man not of the faint of heart. Apparently, he decided to figure out what kind of people, and stayed there. We did not wait for him, we were so scared. As we walked towards the exit, glowing balls appeared behind us several times.

We somehow got out of the cave. We did not sleep all evening and all night, waiting for the instructor. Bonfires were burned. In the morning, three of our men went in search of him. It turned out that he was walking towards the exit, but on the way he lost consciousness. He was taken out, brought to his senses. What happened to him in the cave - he did not remember. That was the end of our expedition.
