On May 26, 2020, residents of several cities in Cote d'Ivoire (West Africa) observed a very unusual atmospheric phenomenon:

This lens of ice somewhere high in the atmosphere has never been seen by anyone. Nobody conducted experiments either, and this whole lens exists only theoretically. Nevertheless, if theoretically it exists, then according to the same theory it should always refract in the same way:

As you can see, the sameness somehow does not work, which cannot be in principle. It's like if you have a magnifying glass, but one day it is convex and can be used to set fire to paper, another day it is concave and diffuses light, and on the third day it is generally flat, like a table. If this does not happen with ordinary glasses, then why does it happen with atmospheric lenses?
Based on the above example, one should think that either the issue here is not in the lenses, or some kind of anomaly occurs with the atmosphere, forcing the clouds of high-altitude dispersed ice to deform. Or the ice floes themselves for some reason change their shape and structure. But what could be behind this?
First of all, one can think of the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly, which in recent years seems to be expanding towards West Africa. New turbulence in the core of the Earth, just somewhere under this very Cote d'Ivoire:
