Machu Picchu (Peru) is a dilapidated Inca city located at an altitude of 2,450 meters. For many centuries, it was hidden from the outside world, as it is located in an inaccessible place.
It is not known why Machu Picchu was built in such an inconvenient place, where it is so difficult to get to, and also why the inhabitants quickly left it.
Historians have assumed that the emperor chose this particular place to build the city in order to "show the greatness of his power." But it's hard to prove it. In addition, it is known that other imperial city-sanctuaries were built by the Incas in more favorable places.
As a result of a new study, scientists have found that the reason for the construction of Machu Picchu in this particular place is hidden under the mountain. Geologist Rualdo Menegat from Brazil believes that Machu Picchu was built here because there is a point of intersection of several geological faults in this place.
Scientists believe that this gave the Incas many benefits. Melt and rainwater flowed along the faults and abundantly fed the fields and drinking canals. But how exactly they managed to calculate these geological faults is not reported.
