In the US state of New Mexico, there is a stretch of road with an unusual and even mystical history. This section was built specifically so that tourists passing by the nearby towns of Albuquerque and Rosuel can admire the local beauty. The terrain along which the road runs is really very picturesque: desert, mountainous reliefs, interesting vegetation. But locals are in no hurry to ride this section of the flyover - strange and still unexplained cases of people disappearing here occur.

This stretch of road in New Mexico is only 15 kilometers long. And it leads directly to the mountain, therefore it is a dead end. That is why the locals called this site “the road to nowhere”. But, unlike tourists who come to admire the desert landscapes of the southern state, the local population tries not even to approach the dangerous road.

In 1973, a novel by the American writer Andre Norton was published. In his work, the author tells about an American guy who travels around America on a motorcycle. Driving along one of the roads, the main character finds a cafe, the owner of which is his friend. He then tells the guy about the strange disappearances that occur on this section of the road. The novel describes real cases when people and cars disappeared without a trace. In conclusion, the owner of the cafe declares that the same anomalous forces are at work in this region as in the famous Bermuda Triangle. After the publication of the novel, journalists carefully studied the description of the area, and indeed found such a road near the city of Albuquerque in the state of New Mexico.

Cases of disappearance began to be officially recorded here after 1946. During all this time, 17 people disappeared on this road. They just drove along it and never came back. For a while, local authorities tried to keep silent about these incidents - the local tourism department did not want to scare away travelers who visited these places at all. And tourists came here because of the legend that in 1947 an unidentified flying object crashed in the vicinity of the city. Crowds of tourists visited Albuquerque to see the site of the alleged UFO crash.

But gradually, cases of disappearance that occurred on this section of the road began to leak into the media. The information was confirmed by both local police officers and employees of the very cafe, which is really located on the "road to nowhere." The police initially assumed that people were being killed by a gang operating in these places. Due to the proximity of the border with Mexico, there could well appear those wishing to take possession of the property of single travelers, in particular, to take away their car. But in some cases, such old cars disappeared that it was difficult for the police to believe that someone could have encroached on them. And there are simply no other roads on which cars could turn off on this section of the highway - everywhere is desert.

And the workers of the roadside cafe talk about cases when people stopped by to buy food and went for a drive on the road, often irrevocably. One of such cases happened not so long ago. A car with a married couple and two children drove up to the cafe. After a snack, the husband sat down to rest, and the wife decided to ride along the road with the children. They were supposed to return in a maximum of half an hour, but they never came back. The police made attempts to find the disappeared, but they could not find even a trace of them.
