Scientists managed to determine exactly what components this part of our planet contains. An unprecedented experiment was carried out with the help of the latest developments by employees of the Australian National University.
According to the domestic press, citing foreign sources, experts in the relevant field worked under the supervision of two well-known professors. As stated by Hrvoe Tkalcic and Than-Son Pham, no one had previously studied the middle of the Blue Planet in the way that they and their colleagues used. According to experts, the center of the Earth is solid, as previously assumed, but its structure is much softer than everyone thought.
Among other things, Tkalchich called the Earth's core a time capsule, noting that if he or other researchers manage to unravel all its secrets, people will know how the planet appeared and how it is developing in our time.
The key goal of the recent research was the search for the so-called J-waves, better known as shear waves, which can only penetrate into solids. These waves are incredibly weak, making them extremely difficult to observe. The research team of Tkalcic and Pham tried to find wave signals indirectly. In particular, the scientists compared the data of several radars obtained after a strong earthquake.
Now specialists have a completely new picture of the inner component of the planet. Tkalcic suggests that even more remarkable discoveries will soon await the world. In addition, a whole host of new studies to explore the interior of the Earth are at the ready.
