Along with technical and scientific progress, when new secrets of the universe are revealed to the world, mankind is faced with mysterious finds from the past that have no explanation. Space flights are becoming commonplace, and there, in infinite space, no one finds alien intelligent life. But on Earth, scientists regularly discover traces of the presence of an extraterrestrial civilization.
The city above the mountains
A couple of years ago, two mummies were found in Peru. Archaeologists have been excavating Mount Viracocha, which is located in the region of the city of Cuzco, a famous tourist center, considered the archaeological center of the South American continent.
The finds were made at an altitude of 3250 meters above sea level.
Cusco is famous for being the capital of the ancient Inca civilization. It is called “the city above the mountains”, each stone of which breathes history. They go there to see the famous Machu Picchu - the lost city of the Incas, which was in desolation for 400 years until it was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century.
And exactly where the mysterious white god, who created the Sun and the Moon, and then man, descended from the sky on Mount Viracocha, according to Inca legends, archaeologists discovered tiny mummies wrapped in blankets.
Archaeologist Renato Davila Riquelme reported that one skeleton is completely preserved and is only 50 cm high, a triangular elongated skull and unusually huge eye sockets. The second mummy has survived only partially, its height is 30 cm. Now the finds are kept in the private museum "Rituals of the Andes" in Cuzco.

Analysis of the remains
In this museum, which stores everything related to the Andean population, there are many remains of bones and whole skeletons of ancient people. So why exactly in this case they immediately started talking about the unearthly origin of these humanoid creatures?
David Vega Centeno, head of the culture department of the municipality of Cuzco, said:
“To determine who actually owns the remains, a special research commission is being created. It will include scientists from different countries. So far, we can only assume that the mummies are not human.
The official statement aroused great joy among ufologists. But until scientists uncover the mystery of the origin of the remains, they can only speculate.
To the great luck of scientists, the remains of an eyeball were preserved in the right eye socket of one of the mummies, which will make it possible to extract DNA samples from there. Archaeologist Domingo Farfan Akuna, who serves on the commission, showed that at the moment they are engaged in the analysis of remains, monitoring and testing of bone tissue.
Anthropologist Pablo Bayabar, based on all available facts, makes the following conclusions: “Skeletons definitely belong to adults, but their heads are disproportionately larger than bodies. And what is most surprising - there is a fontanelle in the skull, which usually closes by 12-18 months of a child's life. In the mouth of the mummies there are molars of an adult, which, by the way, are located in the jaw in a completely different way than in humans."
Deformation of the skull - a sacrifice to the gods
But as Somerset Maugham said in his book "The Edge of a Razor": "The fact that many people believe in any theory is not a guarantee of its truth."
There is another possible explanation for the strange state of the mummy heads. Cranial deformation was ritually carried out among many peoples of the world, in particular among the Mayan tribes. They have surpassed everyone in their tricks to change the baby's head.
The practice of lengthening skulls has been known for a long time. There is information dating back to the 7th century BC, telling about such ritual changes to give social significance to a growing person. After all, having such a distinctive feature, it was possible to manipulate other people, posing as a divine messenger or alien. According to other sources, this was done in order to subsequently bring such an unusual child as a sacrifice to the gods.
Pablo Bayabar suggests that the skulls were modified to appease the mountain gods. This sacrifice is known to historians as capacocha. The Incas called for rain, prayed for a big harvest and the protection of their people from enemies and diseases. Especially often, such sacrifices were made after natural disasters: earthquakes or droughts.
The painting by Canadian artist Paul Kane (19th century) depicts a Chinook woman (Chinooki are an Indian people in the northwestern United States. - Ed.) Holding a child in her arms, enclosed in a strange structure. The baby's head was swaddled and placed in a wooden vise, which was squeezed day after day to obtain the desired skull shape.
Other finds
As we found out, the finds on Mount Viracocha are not the first of their kind. More than a decade ago, anthropologist Robert Connolly of the University of Liverpool published photographs of numerous skulls. He examined the tombs of Pharaoh Tutankhamun and found there, according to him, the skeletons of either aliens or premature babies.
And do not the found skulls remind us of the images of the Egyptian pharaohs, who always wore elongated headdresses, or did their skulls also have an unusual shape? Or maybe skilful magicians of antiquity tried to recreate the image of aliens who came to Earth?
