The story of a monster that lives in the waters of Loch Ness dates back to the 6th century. Legend has it that a terrible creature attacked the people who entered the water, but a monk named Columba, with the help of prayer, was able to drive the terrible monster back into the dark waters, thereby saving people.
For centuries, people have talked about the monster that lives in the lake. It attacked fishermen and overturned small sailing vessels. But until the twentieth century, these were unproven stories. Only with the advent of photography did the Loch Ness monster take shape.
The first and most famous photograph of the Loch Ness monster was taken on November 12, 1933. A man named Hugh Gray took a low-quality photograph of a strange animal that poked its head out of the water on a long neck. Since the photo is not very high quality, and the picture itself was taken from a long distance, then it is not necessary to say for sure that this is the Loch Ness monster. However, the examination showed that the picture itself is genuine.
From that moment on, many pictures of strange anomalies on the lake began to appear. Some of these pictures are quite credible, but there are also those who, in pursuit of fame, falsified photographs.
In the thirties, the British government wanted to arrange a full-scale hunt for the Loch Ness monster. But to the surprise of the world community, the Scots stood up to defend their landmark. Moreover, the Scots demanded to protect the monster at the legislative level. In the end, the hunt was canceled. But since 1964, research work has been carried out on the lake to find the animal.
Alas, scientists have not found evidence that any large animal lives in the waters of the lake. However, the belief in the existence of the monster did not pass. Some scientists insist that the Loch Ness monster is nothing more than a huge sturgeon. Others unanimously argue that the lake is home to the surviving extinction plesiosaur.

But for both versions, there are facts refuting them. For example, there is no evidence that any species of sturgeon can grow to gigantic proportions. And there is not enough food for the life of a plesiosaur in the lake. Moreover, one animal could not live for several hundred years. So there must be other individuals in the lake. But even one is unlikely to be able to feed on what is found in Loch Ness.
