In the legends of many peoples, there are characters who are associated with evil and oppose the forces of good. As a rule, these messengers of the world of darkness, in the end, are defeated by mythical heroes. The Mongols also have their own monster - these are Alhoi-khorkhoi (Allghoi khorkhoi), also known as the Mongolian deadly worm.
The worm reminds some of the intestines of a refreshed cow. It is bright red, reaching one and a half meters in length, say the Mongolian old people. Moreover, the name of this monster is pronounced in a whisper, more often they speak about him in the third person. The Mongols are afraid of the worm, many are even afraid to talk about it, believing that it could threaten innumerable troubles.
The inhabitants of the nomads, heated with alcoholic drinks, shared the most intimate with the researchers. They told many legends about this mythical creature. For example, an attracted worm emerged from the ground, attracted by the impact of a ball. The child tried to touch Alkhoi-khorhoi, but was killed. Parents died while trying to take revenge on the monster.
A group of researchers met an old Mongolian woman who, after much persuasion, agreed to talk about Alkhoi-khorhoi, reports U nexplained-mysteries.com “I have never seen Alkhoi-khorkhoi,” she said, “but I heard a lot about him. Perhaps it was these legends that inspired the creators of Hollywood hits like "Tremors" or "Dune". Scientists doubt the reality of the Alkhoi-Horhoi - it is too incredible what Mongolian herders are talking about. The very idea of the existence of an animal unknown to science, which constantly kills people, raises doubts.
However, biologists are looking for an animal that could serve as the prototype for the myth of the sinister Alhoi-Horhoi. It is unlikely that this creature belongs to the worms. Ringed worms, and many other invertebrates, could hardly survive in the waterless Mongolian desert. Perhaps the Alkhoi-Horhoi is some kind of poisonous reptile, most likely a snake.
