The entire city and the temple of Jupiter, including, for the most part, is in ruins, all this was destroyed supposedly after several earthquakes over the past centuries, and possibly millennia.
I will not argue about some kind of war, but given the size of the columns, blocks, foundations and the structures themselves, for some reason I have doubts that all this was destroyed by earthquakes, but the topic of the article is slightly different.
Now, to the very temple of Jupiter. As for the temple itself, only 6 huge columns remained from it, everything else, apparently, was destroyed.
One can only guess which temple was before, however even these remaining columns are incredible. They are 7 meters in diameter and almost 20 meters high.
Although little remains of the temple, the base on which the columns stand is no less interesting. The entire temple stood on a huge platform on some of the largest megaliths not only in Baalbek, but also on Earth.
At the base of the platform are megaliths called trilithons, the weight of which is about 750-800 tons, the length is almost 20 meters, the width is more than 4 meters, and the height is about 3.6 meters. In general, the dimensions are incredible.

In another part, the same megaliths were laid, and on top of them were installed blocks of not particularly smaller sizes, on average, weighing 300 tons.
I will not even say that processing, and even more so the transportation of such megaliths is impossible even now, all this I lead to the fact that the dimensions are incredible for people and not particularly logical.
But it is worth mentioning the stairs that rise to the Temple of Jupiter. It would seem that the staircase is like a staircase, but its width is 40 meters, and the height of the steps is almost knee-deep for a person of average height.
So what's all this about? Official historians did not even put forward a version of who Baalbek was built by, since it is difficult to explain something. And one of the main versions believes that the city was built by ancient "gods".
As for the technological capabilities in the construction of Baalbek, then everything is clear, the development should have surpassed our modern one. But such dimensions can only be explained by the fact that the civilization of these very builders was larger than today's people.
Whether they were giants or completely different creatures, it is impossible to answer, but based on all these sizes of structures, the only thought is that they were larger than us. But who it was and when Baalbek was built is almost impossible to answer.
