Since the age of the universe is believed to be 13.7 billion years, the star we just saw its light lived then, at the beginning of the world. Not ours, earthly, but universal. Impossible to imagine.
We, on Earth, have our own questions about other worlds.
The most basic and seemingly very simple question - why is information about UFOs hidden? Obviously, if there is reliable, undeniable information.
The plots of books and films are based on what they hide. In this case, the question is usually not asked. It goes without saying that government officials, military, intelligence agents are trying to hide. It happens that they are asked; the answers, in general, boil down to a simple phrase, with one way or another: "In the interests of national security!"
It is assumed: so that the scientific knowledge and technology that aliens own does not go to another state. The US is fighting for secrets from space against China and Russia, and China and Russia are against the US and against each other. But there are a lot of aliens, enough for everyone. Many supporters of the theory of the existence of alien intelligence are sure that in 1947 the military picked up the dead aliens. There are no UFOs, there are weather events or military tests. It seems to be true, but if you are scrupulous, in fact they answer a completely different question: there is a UFO or not, they believe in a UFO or not.
And the question is completely different - why hide it? Why did they always make and still make a secret out of reliable or unreliable evidence?

Even then, in 1980, immediately after reading the novel, I had a little theory.
Any shepherd of a human flock is very wary of the appearance of strangers in his tribe, in his high-mountain village, cut off from the world. Outsiders are a threat to the established order. The very fact that there are people behind the mountain, and perhaps they live differently than here, shakes the foundations. And here, after all, it is not people - aliens. Shaking the basics. A monstrous blow to the world order, to consciousness. Starting with religion, man is created in the image and likeness of God. Then in whose image and likeness are the aliens created?
