American scientists have suggested the existence of synestia, a new type of planetary object. A related study is published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets and is briefly reported by the American Geophysical Union.

Experts, using the computer program HERCULES (Highly Eccentric Rotating Concentric U (potential) Layers Equilibrium Structure), created by them, examined the evolution of a heated rotating spheroid of constant density.

Experts have found that a celestial body turns into synestia when its angular velocity of rotation at the equator exceeds its orbital velocity. Most often, synesty occurs when two rapidly rotating celestial bodies collide.

Outwardly, the resulting object resembles an erythrocyte or donut. The name synestia was given, at the initiative of the authors, by a combination of the Greek συν (together) and Eστια (Estia - the goddess of architecture).

The duration of existence of this type of planetary objects is the longer, the more matter they contain. With the passage of time, experts say, the planet itself and its satellites stand out from the synesty.

Scientists believe that the Earth-Moon system in the distant past could have been synonymous for about 100 years. In addition to it, the modeling of the authors identified the known types of planetary objects (actually planets and planets with a disk).
