Deep underneath Sipadan Island (near Borneo) in Malaysia, the sea turtle cemetery is a network of tunnels filled with the fossilized remains of these reptiles.

A video has appeared on the Web, filmed in one of the most impressive and mysterious places in the Pacific Ocean. This is a sea turtle cemetery, deeply hidden in the area of the island of Borneo (Malaysia), reports Live Science.

The mysterious burial is located at a depth of 18 meters and is a labyrinth of tunnels filled with dozens of fossilized remains of reptiles. Among them are the skeletons of very tiny turtles.

Scientists still do not know why so many turtles died in a sea cave and how only the newly born turtles ended up here. After all, as you know, female turtles lay their eggs in the sand on the ocean shore. But not under water, and certainly not in deep underwater caves.

Researchers speculate that the turtles, for some reason, chose underground tunnels for themselves as a place where they went to die.

Scientists consider the cemetery unique, since so far nothing like this has been found on Earth.
