There is another theory. And in accordance with it, the researchers plan to raise the ancestor of modern birds in the laboratory in order to understand exactly how this class of living beings evolved.
According to a group of scientists at Yale University, the ancestors of birds were dinosaurs with a beak-shaped snout. For this reason, they decided to obtain by laboratory means an animal that had the very semblance of a beak in ancient times.

"Birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs," Horner said in an interview with Wired magazine. - Dinosaur traits are in their DNA. In the early stages of development, a chick embryo is very similar to an ancient pangolin - a long tail, sharp teeth and three-toed feet. If you find genes that turn paws into wings and make the tail disappear, and turn them off, you get an animal with the characteristics of a dinosaur."
The paleontologist sponsors all the research carried out out of his own pocket. However, he expects to succeed and, by sharing his discoveries, attract "big science."
