During excavations in France, scientists found the thighbone of an extremely huge dinosaur. It is about the size of a person and weighs about 508 kilograms. It is likely that the creature was over 30 meters tall during its lifetime.

According to the Daily Star, such proportions correspond only to the dinosaurs of the Patagotitan species. They are believed to be the largest animals that have ever lived on Earth. However, scientists have not yet named the creature to which the bone they found belonged. It was possible to establish that it lived about 140 million years ago. There is no question of finding a complete dinosaur skeleton. However, near the femur, paleontologists have unearthed a fragment of the pelvis, to which it was probably once attached.

“This fragment of the pelvis is huge! And it is perfectly preserved,”said curator of the Museum of Angoulême Jean-Frasoy Tournepich.

In turn, the paleontologist from the Paris Historical Museum Renaud Allan said: “We can see the place to which the muscles and tendons were attached. It is not often possible to find such a large fragment that can fall to pieces under its own weight."

The bones of a giant dinosaur were found in the municipality of Anjac-Charente. This is the richest place in Europe for such finds. Since 2010, scientists have discovered 7,500 bones here that belonged to 45 different dinosaur species.
