According to one of the authors of the project, Richard Worth, a computer model was developed at the University of Pennsylvania, which showed that after the catastrophe, about 360 thousand rather large fragments of rock were released into outer space, on which primitive life forms could be located. It is possible that such pieces could be on Mars.
It is worth noting that the Curiosity rover found the remains of an ancient freshwater lake on the surface of the Red Planet. According to assumptions, theoretically, life could exist in it. An analysis of soil samples was carried out, as a result of which traces of the main elements were found, including carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and hydrogen.
The asteroid, which received the name "dinosaur killer", fell to the surface of our planet about 65 million years ago in the Yucatan Peninsula in North America. As a result of this collision, a series of avalanches, earthquakes, fires and tsunamis swept across the planet. The crater formed as a result of the collision reached 180 km in diameter and 40 km in depth.
