This technology, developed in Israel, is based on the principle of so-called sensory replacement. In fact, a person who has put on innovative lenses becomes able to feel the image … the cornea of the eye. A microscopic camera is attached to the frame of the glasses, the resulting image is converted into electrical signals using a special transmitter, and they are sent to the bionic lens. This creates a "tactile" equivalent of the image on the patient's cornea.

Considering that our cornea has 600 times higher tactile sensitivity than fingertips, it allows us to perceive images quite accurately. An important advantage of this technology over the previous method (see "Optical prosthesis: see with the brain") is non-invasiveness, that is, there is no need to implant a chip in the head. So far, the new development is experimental, but its rapid introduction into clinical practice is expected.

American researchers have developed a technology that allows you to enrich human vision with the abilities of a wider view - like in insects.

The device looks like an optical lens, which contains transparent polymer "pockets" filled with liquid, located throughout the lens area. When compressed or expanded, the optical properties change, and due to this, the lens provides a wide angle of view, characteristic of the eyes of insects. Experts believe that this experimental development could be useful, in particular, in laparoscopic surgery. Physicians will receive a wide viewing angle while maintaining the ability to accurately assess the distance between the lens and body tissue. This will significantly improve the accuracy of operations.
