Exactly 300 years ago, in 1713, Berthold Gerstmann first used the term "poltergeist" (translated from German - "noisy spirit"). Researchers of the phenomenon argue that most of all cases of poltergeist can be attributed to natural causes, about a quarter are hoaxes and only six percent are associated with something unusual.

The complaints of the victims of a poltergeist, as a rule, are similar: objects move by themselves, sometimes they can fly and move from place to place right in front of the owners; someone's steps, voices can be heard; an invisible hand turns on and off lights and household appliances; sometimes there are inscriptions and notes intended for the inhabitants of the house. Spontaneous fires are also referred to as poltergeists.

In the past, such episodes were usually attributed to the tricks of evil spirits and evil spirits. They tried to fight the "barabashki" with the help of holy water and priests, but often this did not help. Sometimes people had to leave the house, as it became "unclean", and move to another place. But this did not always have an effect, since the poltergeist could pursue its victims in a new place.

Now, in many countries and cities, special services have appeared that help people who face such problems. Experts go to the site and try to understand the situation, often using various technologies. In Moscow, such a "anti-poltergeist ambulance" service is headed by Professor, Doctor of Medicine and Candidate of Technical Sciences, Andrey Li.

“Over the years of our service's existence, since 1995, my assistants and I have“worked out”about a hundred requests,” Andrei Gendinovich said. - About a quarter of them are banal jokes. In the same number of cases, a more careful study was able to find the natural causes of the emergence of disturbing people "pranks" … And about the same number of cases turned out to be an imitation of a poltergeist, which was started by any of the family members. Many calls were received from people suffering from mental and neurological disorders. Only six or seven times have I encountered a genuine manifestation of a poltergeist.

According to the parapsychologist, poltergeist is a form of so-called telekinesis. People with the ability to telekinesis can move objects at a distance with the power of sight or thought, or somehow influence the surrounding reality in some other way. With poltergeist psychokinetic energy is released spontaneously, that is, its "sources" do not realize it, and what is happening seems to be a miracle.

Experts distinguish four types of poltergeist: noise (sounds whose source cannot be determined), motor (spontaneous movement of objects), fire (ignition of things) and, finally, water (the appearance of water from an unknown source). Otherworldly forces have nothing to do with it, the professor said. Lee. One of those present is usually “to blame” for everything, and he himself may not even suspect about it. Most often these are children or adolescents, or adults of a hysterical disposition. “Abnormal phenomena”, as a rule, begin when “sources” are unsettled by some kind of conflict or a negative situation that has developed.

Andrey Lee and his team have at their disposal a set of equipment consisting of four miniature video cameras, which researchers call a "poltergeist trap." With its help, they install round-the-clock video surveillance in "poltergeist" apartments. For example, experts managed to establish that in one case the "culprit" of spontaneous combustion was the owners' youngest son. His psychokinetic energy, breaking free, created high-temperature foci, and as a result, objects around the boy caught fire. The phenomena came to naught after the psychologist worked with the child.

In another case, things “flew” in the apartment where the family, consisting of a mother, grandmother and grandson lived. The cameras recorded how a young grandson, when there were no adults nearby, threw an alarm clock on the floor, then threw a hammer into the camera lens … Fortunately, he did not hit. The reason for this behavior was the overly tight guardianship from the mother and grandmother.

The old high-rise building near the Savelovsky railway station, where dishes constantly rattled and fell, and the shelves fell off the walls, at first put the researchers at a standstill. It turned out that the draft in the arch, to which the "bad" apartment adjoined, was to blame: the air currents passing through the pipe created infra-frequency oscillations, hence the "poltergeist" … But the presence of supernatural forces was never found anywhere. So such phenomena should not be called a “noisy spirit”: the perfume has nothing to do with it!
