A strange and creepy voice that sounded in the house of the Spanish city of Zaragoza, became the cause of a whole police investigation. Even Soviet newspapers reported on this mysterious story. You can argue endlessly, but that old case confirms that such entities as brownies exist.

Strange events in the kitchen

In the early morning of September 27, 1934, people living in a house on rue Gascon de Gotor in the city of Zaragoza woke up with loud laughter. The frightened tenants of the house began to look out of the windows of their apartments, and some went out to the landing, but there was no one there. From that day on, a strange laugh woke the residents of the house every morning. People got used to it and stopped paying attention to oddities.

Antonio Palazon lived in one of the apartments with his wife and little daughter. The Palazon family had a maid - seventeen-year-old Maria Pascuela. On the morning of November 15, the girl complained to the owners that she heard a man's voice in the kitchen. Isabelle Palazon, skeptical about the maid's complaint, but the next day she personally heard the voice. A strange voice came from the stove:

- Ay, it hurts, it really, really hurts!

Isabelle and Maria called the neighbors to confirm that the voice was not in sight. The neighbors heard an angry male voice coming from the chimney. Most of all, the voice was interested in the young servant. The chimney ran through nine apartments and ended on a sloping roof. It was impossible to hide there, the entrance to the attic and the roof were locked. Antonio Palazon called the police. The arriving policemen also heard a voice. One of the police officers shoved a poker into the stove to find the source of the sound. Suddenly a wild cry came from the oven:

- Well, you are a freak! It hurts!

The police searched every corner of the house. They turned off the electricity, suspecting that a radio transmitter might be hidden somewhere. But the voice did not stop.

- Do you need money? one of the cops asked.

- Not!

- What do you want, senor?

- I need nothing. And don't call me Senor. I'm not human at all!

After this short dialogue, the voice disappeared.

The next day, an architect with workers came to the house. The house was carefully checked and checked against the drawings, but no secret rooms were found in it. The workers dismantled the floor in the kitchen near the Palazon, while a voice commented ironically on everything. When the architect ordered to disassemble the chimney to check its diameter, a voice said:

- Don't bother, the chimney diameter is 25 centimeters.

The voice was right.

Storm

While the inquiry was going on, onlookers gathered near the house. The crowd completely blocked the street. Taking advantage of the excitement, three students decided to joke, they imperceptibly made their way into the restaurant, which was located on the first floor of the house, and climbed the ladder to the attic. Upstairs, the pranksters donned sheets and portrayed ghosts. The crowd got scared and a crush began. The police, of course, caught the jokers, the rally cost the students a substantial fine.

On November 25, the police decided to take unprecedented measures. The tenants were evicted, the onlookers were dispersed. The house was completely cordoned off. Psychologists and a priest entered, sprinkling everything around with holy water. And the voice began to scoff even more, they say, he is not afraid of holy water. However, there was silence.

Three days later, Police Chief Perez de Soto announced that the voice was no longer being heard and that residents could return home. In the evening of November 30, the voice rang out again. But this time he wasn't joking, he was angry:

- Here I am. All residents of this house will soon be dead.

Mediums also worked in the house. The paranormal specialist Asuncion Alvarez went into a trance, but during the session she fell dead. Another medium managed to photograph something that looked like a very scary face peeking out of the wall. Meanwhile, Antonio Palazon decided that he had had enough and took his family to a country house.

Fighting evil spirits

The newspaper "Soviet Siberia" wrote:

“The best detectives from Scotland Yard have been invited. Correspondents, cameramen and priests from many countries came to Zaragoza. There are dozens of microphones installed in the building”.

The crowd at the house grew even denser. On December 5, Governor Otero Mirelis on the radio called on people to disperse, but there were even more onlookers. And the Bishop of Barcelona addressed the parishioners with a sermon, in which he spoke about the coming of the end times.

Luis Fernando, the chief prosecutor decided to take matters into his own hands. On December 7, he stated that the source of the vote was the Palazon family maid, Maria. Supposedly the voice appears through unconscious ventriloquism. Mary herself does not realize this, since she falls into a trance.

“I personally saw what was the matter. All our investigations and experiments have clearly proved that the "voice" is a psychic phenomenon that can only occur under certain conditions. I do not blame the girl, but she needs help,”the prosecutor said.

Everyone understood that the girl was simply made extreme: after all, the voice sounded even in her absence. Maria was forced to leave Zaragoza.

The large Torre family moved into the empty apartment. The head of the family knew about what had happened, but believed that the secret was revealed. However, a few days later the voice sounded again. The brownie did not threaten anyone and entertained Torre's many children. He talked with children and solved riddles. In the summer of 1935, the voice disappeared.

In the seventies, the house was demolished. In 1978, a modern building appeared on the site of the demolished house. Officially it was named "The building of the brownie".
