The supervisory agency and social activists did not find a common language on the cause of death of Ural tourists in the area of Mount Otorten.

snow avalanche

Last week, Andrei Kuryakov, deputy head of the Prosecutor General's Office in the Ural Federal District, announced the official and final version of the reasons for the death of Igor Dyatlov's group, who died under mysterious circumstances in 1959 in the Northern Urals. “All the injuries of the dead are typical for the injuries of groups of tourists-climbers who are caught in an avalanche,” said a spokesman for the supervisory agency. - The slope is avalanche dangerous, this is a fact, therefore, two information was prepared: to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Sverdlovsk Region and to the Governor of the Middle Urals. It was proposed to take measures to ensure the safety of people."

It is worth noting that the prosecutor's office began checking this mysterious story in September 2018. Specialists studied the materials of the criminal case (more than 400 pages), archives of four cities (Yekaterinburg, Kamensk-Uralsky, Ivdel and Serov), conducted examinations at the site of the death of tourists.

The first results were announced last year. Prosecutors put forward three versions: a snow slab, a hurricane, an avalanche. In the end, we settled on the latter.

It would seem - that's it, the truth has triumphed, the mystery that has tormented humanity for six decades has been revealed, but … it was not so!

But what about the witnesses?

The fact is that very, very many do not agree with the version of the prosecutor's office: representatives of the "Memory of the Dyatlov Group" Fund, scientists, representatives of the Russian Geographical Society, lawyers, and most importantly - relatives and friends of the victims. In particular, Igor Dyatlov's friend, master of sports of the USSR in tourism, participant in the search, Pyotr Bartolomey, does not agree with this version. In the winter of this year, he gave a correspondent a long interview in which he said: “The secret of the death of tourists is kept in the bowels of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation! How can a task be set and performed without using eyewitness and witness testimony, as well as facts and documents found by researchers? I think that ignoring the testimony is unlawful."

Lawyer Yevgeny Chernousov, representing the interests of the relatives of the deceased tourists and the "Memory of the Dyatlov Group" Foundation, believes that the inspection of the prosecutor's office does not matter, since this story can only be objectively investigated within the framework of a newly opened criminal case, and only the Investigative Committee has the right to do so …

Relatives, friends of the victims and social activists have already turned to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov with a request to assist in the initiation of a real criminal case. Prior to that, a similar letter was sent to the head of the ICR, Alexander Bastrykin.

It turns out that it is too early to put an end to the case of the mysterious death of a group of Ural tourists.

Let us recall that the students died on the night of February 1-2, 1959. A few weeks later, when they did not return in due time, a search was organized. On February 26, the search engines found an empty tent with a cut wall, and some time later - the bodies of all nine participants in the campaign within a radius of five hundred meters around it. Some wore only underwear, others were dressed in clothes taken from their already dead comrades. One of the girls had no tongue.

Today there are about 75 versions of the reasons for the death of the group. The most popular ones are a quarrel, a mistake by group members, an avalanche, methyl alcohol, infrasound, ball lightning, an attack by escaped prisoners or local residents, UFOs, tests of secret weapons, a bear, a Bigfoot, special services. In recent years, many are inclined to believe that it was precisely a man-made disaster.
