Scientists have monitored the health of Chinese people who drank tea at least three times a week for seven years.

Scientists have found that green tea reduces the risk of early death: from stroke and heart attack by 20%, from cardiovascular attacks by 22%, for other reasons by 15%. This result was obtained by specialists from the Academy of Medical Sciences of the PRC and several scientific centers in China, who monitored the health of more than 100 thousand people from 15 provinces of China for ten years.

The participants were divided into two groups - those who regularly drink tea at least three times a week, and those who either do not drink this drink at all, or do it less than three times a week.

The fact is that tea contains many active polyphenols - "antioxidants" that protect the cells of the body from damage by free oxygen molecules. Scientists emphasize that the more often and more regularly the drink is consumed throughout life, the stronger its protective properties will manifest.

Also, the authors of a study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology note that black tea does not have this effect, its polyphenols lose their function of protecting cells during fermentation.
