A stone "wall" of rectangular blocks piled on top of each other was discovered by a geological expedition in Gornaya Shoria in the south of the Kemerovo region.

As ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the chairman of the Tomsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Yevgeny Vertman, it is possible that this man-made structure is over a hundred thousand years old. Scientists compare it to Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.

According to preliminary estimates, the "wall" has a height of almost forty meters and a length of about two hundred. The length of the "bricks" of which the structure is built reaches twenty, and their height is five to seven meters. Each block weighs over a thousand tons. Some of the rectangular blocks are scattered along the slopes of the surrounding mountains.

Scientists have two versions of the origin of the "Russian Stonehenge". First: it could have been built by an ancient civilization that possesses technologies that are inaccessible today. Otherwise, how could the boulders be raised to a height of over a thousand meters?

According to the second version, the stones found are the result of geological processes associated with the strong weathering of the rocks of Gornaya Shoria. Wertman said that for the first time geologists paid attention to this area in 1991, but after the collapse of the USSR, the lack of funding for a long time did not allow to start research.

Work resumed only this fall. The first expedition was attended by representatives from different regions of Siberia and the Far East. And next year, scientists intend to go to Shoria again, this time with special equipment that allows them to study the area in more detail.
