The main threats to human life are epidemics, nuclear war, natural disasters and an asteroid fall, according to a report published on How Will The World End.
The experts recognized tuberculosis as the most dangerous disease for humanity. According to the WHO, in 2017, ten million people were infected with it, of which two million died. At this rate of spread of the disease, it would wipe out the world's population in less than five thousand years. Other fatal diseases include malaria, Ebola and meningitis.
In second place in terms of the degree of danger to the world's population is the nuclear threat. This year the hands of the symbolic Doomsday clock have been moved two minutes before midnight.
Global warming is called the main climate threat to the Earth. It is noted that while maintaining the current rate of warming - 0.2 degrees in ten years - the global temperature will rise by 44 degrees in 2136 years, after which the oceans will rise so much that water will flood the land.
The collision of an asteroid with Earth is unlikely, the authors of the report say. However, in the event of a possible fall of one of the potentially dangerous asteroids - Florence - 1.2 billion inhabitants of the planet could die.
The experts compiled the list based on information from 50 different sources, including UN statistics, data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention and NASA.
