This is perhaps very surprising, since European culture is so different from the traditions, rituals, life foundations of people living in the savannas of Kenya and Tanzania that the woman even wrote a book about her stay as a wife in the Masai tribe.
She first came to Kenya as a tourist at the age of 26. From the very first minutes of her stay, she was covered with a wave of some kind of euphoria, and other tourists absolutely did not share her admiration.
Corinna met the Masai, and at first sight fell in love with a man. He seemed to her perfect, smooth dark skin, white, even teeth, athletic build, tall, he was the man of her dreams. He had no clothes except a loincloth and she could appreciate all the beauty of his muscles, she really wanted to continue the relationship with him. This handsome man's name was Lketinga, and the girl promised herself to return as soon as possible.
Six months later, having decided all the formalities, the girl again came to her Lketinga.
The long-awaited day came, which she dreamed of from the first meeting, they were left alone for the whole night in the hut. Here an endless series of disappointments began. The night of love in European countries was very different from how it happens in the tribe. The man was not at all interested in sensations his lady, and there was no foreplay at all. Everything happened quickly and incomprehensibly, then everything repeated, just as silently and without emotion.
In the morning, she managed to talk with the girl of the tribe Priscilla. The girl was familiar with Europeans, and knew how well they treat women, including in bed. She did not understand her emotions and resentment about what was and what was not at night. She simply explained to her that they had it. it happens like this. Their men are different. For example, they do not kiss, at all, the mouth is only given for eating. And for any Masai, what we call a tender kiss is disgusting. A man has no right to touch a woman below the waist, a woman should not in any way touch manhood. the hair and face of a man is also impossible. Another oddity that surprised Karinna is that men and women do not share a meal, you can't even just look at how and what men eat. Contrary to common sense, Corinna still did not abandon her plans, married Lketinga and left to live in a remote village where his mother lived. Now her life became a real test. It was hard, sometimes she had to starve, but the lack of water still caused more discomfort. It was not always possible to wash, washed in a dry stream, and as usual, women separately, men separately.
Corinna, despite all the difficulties, did not stop loving her husband and built her family happiness as best she could. She bought a truck, opened a small store in the village and was preparing to become a mother. Lketinga also mastered affection, even got used to kissing his wife, began to help her in the store. However, Corinna was confused by his addiction to chewing the intoxicating herb-world. And one more nuance, since Karinna was different from other women of the tribe, it is natural that other men looked at her with interest, which caused jealousy in Lketinga, and he tormented Karinna with his suspicions.
The appearance of their daughter, Nipirai, did not change their marital status. On the contrary, he declared that the child was not from him, and continued to harass his wife with his jealousy and suspicion of infidelity. In addition, their small business went downhill. Upbringing did not allow him. accept that Karinna is smarter and more educated than him, easily communicates with suppliers and buyers, he also tried to be a boss, having no idea about finances, loans, and let's omit the moment that he was basically illiterate, could not write and read. that he should be in charge, by the simple right that he is a man.
Under the onslaught of troubles and eternal quarrels, Corinna realized that love was gone, and that she did not want to live the rest of her life in such conditions. She also did not want her daughter to live in this village all her life. In the end, she simply began to avoid her husband, began to avoid intimacy with him, which attracted new quarrels.
The worries about the baby, about her future were also terrible. The girl was not even a year old when men began to come to them and talk about marrying their sons. Also among the Masai, there is still a barbaric rite that makes a girl a woman. This was unacceptable for Corinna, but her husband did not think so.
Soon, Corinna took her daughter back to Switzerland, supposedly for a while, but even then she knew that she would not come back.
The further life of this exceptional woman was successful. She divorced her marriage, got a job and wrote a book about her life in Africa. The book became a bestseller, later a film was shot based on the book with the same name "White Masai".
