But they predicted, wondered, thought. They guessed, rejoiced, did not have time to live up to the predicted. We pushed scientific thought forward and, in part, of course, we now live in the world in which we live, thanks to the fantasies of writers.
And some fantasized about a future that did not play with all the colors of the rainbow. And it didn't even play at all. I will not talk about the apocalypse. I will talk about the dystopia that is quite possible. And in the conditions of which neither I nor you really want to live.

And this is not an isolated incident associated with the autumn blues. Now almost any disease is immediately epidemic in nature, and everyone around you gets sick at once. The density and mobility of the population is the best soil for the instant spread of any virus.
And each time the viruses mutate stronger, faster and more suddenly.
I hardly believe that the "zombie" virus will break free. But the fact that one day a rabies pandemic will overwhelm no longer the cows, I fully admit. After all, mutations are absolutely unpredictable and the next any of them in any virus can cause irreversible changes in the brain of people who are densely packed into urban flocks.
And the drugs won't help. Most of them are no longer able to cope with what they must fight against. And the pharmaceutical companies slipping us placebos have nothing to do with it.
Total control
Not the worst scenario for human development, I agree. State control is normal, it is needed for the state to exist and to ensure the safety of its citizens.
But private, personal, my life, subjected to constant hidden or explicit control - it's scary. Already now, any of us is tapping the phone. He does not sleep, he does not see, he only listens and transmits information for analysis.
And then we will not have our little immodest secrets. Video cameras and other control systems will track every step of a law-abiding person, record all the steps, warn about all minor offenses, and anticipate many desires.
And analytical programs will unobtrusively replace these desires with those necessary for the business of someone who will make money on this and fulfill their desires.
Climate is the enemy
More and more there is a feeling that the planet is self-cleaning. As a person washes away dirt with soap foam, so does the Earth wash people off his body.
In general, changes in climate, continental boundaries and climatic zones are a completely natural process. But if earlier the tribes of Neanderthals slowly retreated in front of the advancing glaciers, now … Now the tribes have nowhere to retreat, all around such tribes - every meter by a pack.
And when they say that the ocean level will rise by 3-5-7 centimeters - it's not scary only for those who do not understand the magic of numbers. And scary for those 70% of the world's population who live concentratedly on the coast.
And who will have to look for new places for this very residence. And someone will have to make room when the neighbors in the communal planet decide to move away from the water that is advancing on their heels.
And will leave the cities as in the starting picture. Only under water …
