The first world robot summit will be held in Japan in 2020 in Aichi and Fukushima prefectures, Japanese Economy Minister Hiroshige Seko announced on Friday.

The World Robot Summit will be a competition between robots from different countries in various fields of activity. In total, it is planned to test the capabilities of human assistants in such areas as production, service, infrastructure for resisting natural disasters.

“We want to test how robots will act in the society of the future and how life will change from this,” Seko said.

The main events will take place in Aichi Prefecture, and the area of disaster management and disaster relief will be presented in the city of Minamisoma in Fukushima Prefecture.

Universities, research institutes and enterprises are invited to participate. The robots they create will have to show their skills not only in the already familiar industrial production of goods, but also in such mundane things as placing things at home, cleaning toilets, putting goods on shelves and other activities.

In the field of elimination of the consequences of natural disasters and accidents, robots will be offered two situations - the search and rescue of victims of an accident at an oil refinery and an accident in a tunnel.
