For a long time, people have observed the sudden appearance in the sky of different signs, images and pictures. All these visions, regardless of the religion that prevailed at that time, from the place and era, were interpreted as divine signs. Roman, Greek and Egyptian chroniclers wrote about these mysterious phenomena in ancient times.

So, one of the most common visions was a fiery cross. It was first documented in AD 312. At that time, there was a fierce struggle for the title of Roman emperor between the military leader Constantine and the interim ruler Maxentius. The commander and his soldiers, the day before the decisive battle, saw a huge cross in the sky and considered it an omen of victory. At night, the military leader saw Jesus in a dream, who told him to make the cross his emblem. Then Constantine, on whom this vision made the strongest impression, ordered his soldiers to engrave a Christian monogram on their shields - the Greek letters "ro" and "xi". In the ensuing battle at the Tiber River, he won the battle and, becoming emperor, became known in history as Constantine the Great. In no small measure, this was facilitated by the fact that a year afteras he won the decisive battle, he issued the Edict of Milan. Constantine overturned the laws that persecuted Christians and granted them civil rights and religious freedom. He even returned to them the property confiscated during the persecution.

In May 351, on the holy days of the Trinity, a huge glowing cross appeared in the sky over Calvary, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem watched it for several hours. The cross was so large that it reached the Olive Mountain. All the inhabitants of the city of Jerusalem saw him clearly. This was by no means a game of imagination, since in that case he would immediately disappear. It was visible for several hours, and its radiance was much brighter than the rays of the sun. The people were overwhelmed with joy and awe at the sight of this heavenly sign. All the people gathered in the church - women and men, young and old, local and newcomer, idolaters and Christians. All of them with one voice praised the Lord Jesus Christ.

In addition, according to historians, one of such signs appeared to Julius Caesar and promised the ruler a military victory. Tsar Ivan the Terrible also witnessed such a spectacle in 1584. He considered this phenomenon a warning of his death. The ruler died in the same year.

Numerous references to a heavenly sign in the form of a cross of fire are also found in medieval chronicles. They appeared periodically in the sky and much later. The meaning of heavenly visions was sometimes so obvious that after their appearance, border conflicts, internecine wars and internal party feuds ceased.

So, in the French town of Mignet, which is located near the city of Poitiers, on December 17, 1826, a huge cross appeared in the sky near the parish church during a prayer service, which was seen by three thousand parishioners. The parishioners gathered for a ceremony, during which the Abbot Marceau had to consecrate and bless a large roadside cross, which was installed at the western doors of the church. At the moment when the abbot in his sermon reached the place where the miraculous cross was mentioned, which appeared in the air before the victory of the commander Constantine in the battle with Maxentius, a large luminous cross appeared in the sky above the heads of the people. It was about 35 meters in size. Its appearance was not preceded by any sounds or flashes of light. The abbot himself had no idea what was happening behind his back at that time. He saw the crossonly when another priest pointed to heaven.

Marceau later wrote that it is not possible to describe the impression that this amazing sight made on the minds and souls of all those present. The only thing that could be said was that part of the crowd at that moment knelt down in fear, while the rest stood with their hands raised to heaven and their mouths open. Abbot Marceau himself sang the song "Glory to Jesus", and all this happened against the background of the excitement and excitement of the mind, which seized all people without exception.

Then the cross gradually began to disappear, and it was almost not visible by the time Marceau gave his blessing. Almost a week later, a report was sent to the Bishop of Poitiers with a description of the mysterious and amazing incident, which was signed by 50 eyewitnesses. After that, the bishop created a commission of scholars and clergymen and began an investigation. In France, the report was controversial and controversial. Skeptics attacked clergy and parishioners and accused them of frivolity. At the same time, they themselves could not rationally explain what had happened. Some claimed that a large kite was mistaken for the cross, but eyewitnesses unanimously assured that there was no wind that day. As a result, on April 18, 1827, Pope Leo XII, after weighing the pros and cons, proclaimed that this vision could not be attributed to natural phenomena.

In 1915, during the First World War, when Russian soldiers suffered continuous defeats, George the Victorious reminded of himself near Kharkov with the help of a vision. In front of the station building, a prayer service and a nationwide display of the icon of St. George the Victorious took place, after which the priest addressed the soldiers with a parting word. At that moment, a cross appeared in the blue sky, which consisted of white clouds with reflections. This sign was observed by several hundred people.

Scientists have also witnessed such heavenly visions. For example, K. E. Tsiolkovsky, who was the founder of cosmonautics. He first met such a phenomenon on the outskirts of the town of Borovsk in 1889. The scientist saw in the southern side of the sky a cloud that had the shape of a regular cross. Tsiolkovsky was distracted for a split second, and when he looked in that direction again, the cloud had already acquired a human figure. Konstantin Eduardovich, obeying some strange call, got up and walked towards this object. The vision, in turn, also moved towards him, but the figure suddenly began to move away from him and soon disappeared from sight. A pair of large drops of liquid fell on the scientist's face from an absolutely cloudless sky. Licking them, the scientist felt something sweet.

The second incident with him occurred in May 1928. According to the stories of Konstantin Eduardovich, in the evening, when the sun had not set yet, but it was hidden by clouds, he went out onto the balcony and suddenly saw almost at the very horizon three letters horizontally located side by side - RAY. The letters were as printed. They were composed of clouds and were at a distance of about 30 versts. While the scientist watched them, they changed their shape. But what did these letters mean? It immediately occurred to Tsiolkovsky to mistake them for Latin. Then he read the word PARADISE, which already made sense. Most interestingly, there was something like a tomb or slab under the cloudy word. The scientist from this vision concluded that after death there will come an end to all torments. In essence, both these letters and the cross were clouds. But what forces gave them shape, which makes some sense? Are people able to understand the signals that the Higher Mind gives?
