The installation in the form of a whirlwind of smoke is called Ascension. Its author, an English sculptor of Indian origin, Anish Kapoor, is arguably the most prominent muralist to date. Let us remind you that it was he who erected the 114-meter-high asymmetric Orbit tower for the London Olympics, which has already been nicknamed the “Eiffel Tower of the XXI century”.
The structure consists of a base surrounded by four posts with built-in fans to direct the flow of smoke. "Ascension" is a kind of materialization of the holy spirit. The author was interested in the idea of how the spiritual becomes objective, just as smoke turns into a column.
The Ascension installation was first shown at the 2011 Venice Biennale of Arts. The smoke column was modeled by a British sculptor in the Venetian Cathedral of San Giorgio. After that, the Ascension project was exhibited in galleries in Beijing, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The vortex-whirlpool from ancient Greek legends, now took shape and became a fountain, which was created by designer William Pye (Vortex Fountain by William Pye).
In the courtyard of the Seaham Hall Hotel in County Durham, UK, there is an amazing whirlpool sculpture created by sculptor William Pye, famous for his water installations. The object, named by Pai "Charybdis", is made in the form of a transparent cylinder, inside which a powerful water vortex is spinning. Why the water in the cylinder does not run out remains a mystery to the ordinary observer.
The design of the Charybdis Vortex Fountain is a large acrylic polymer cylinder that allows the formation of an air-vortex flow while continuously circulating water inside it.
A high level of water filtration plays a very important role. It is essential in order to maintain the necessary transparency of the water and the audience can see the vortex in full glory.
Why such a strange name? Remember Homer! Sirens Charybdis and Scylla lived in the Sicilian sea. Homer, in his narratives, told us that because Charybdis stole the oxen of Hercules, Zeus struck her with lightning and turned her into a whirlpool, which subsequently swallowed many ships to the bottom.
The Charybdis is William Pye's largest airy water sculpture to date, and the material is a transparent acrylic polymer he only used in the Clearwater Cube.
