Balloon over Baikal fell into the local "Bermuda triangle"
The first flight over Baikal in the history of aeronautics took place. Two travelers from Nizhny Novgorod, Valentin EFREMOV and Vladimir ISAICHEV, set a Guinness record by flying about 100 kilometers from one coast to another. At first, the balloonists were going to take off on Sunday. But it took a long time to get to the starting point, so we started on Monday at 13.20. We took off from the village of Zama in the northern part of Olkhon Island towards the villages of Ust-Barguzin and Gremyachinsk. "Komsomolskaya Pravda" managed to contact the travelers right during the flight through the anomalous zone.
- The mood is excellent, - Valentin Efremov shared his impressions. - We have already flown 70 kilometers, we are almost in the center of the "Bermuda triangle" of Baikal. The weather is excellent, the sun is shining, we do not observe any phenomena. We already see the opposite bank. A helicopter is waiting for us on it. We are going to land in the Gremyachinsk area.
When Valentine reached the ground, he said on the phone:
- We flew 97 kilometers. We are looking for a landing site. We send greetings to all Irkutsk residents through Komsomolskaya Pravda! We are glad for you that you live near such a beautiful lake. I was able to verify this during the flight.
But once over the coast, Valentin admitted that he still met with inexplicable phenomena in the anomalous zone over Lake Baikal.
“We have encountered anomalous phenomena,” Valentine said. - With which ones, I will tell you upon my return from the expedition. No, not now, do not pry.
The organizers accompanying the balloon also speak about the influence of the local "Bermuda Triangle". They followed the balloon in a boat.
“We decided to go a little south of the mysterious zone,” said Sergey BORODIN, an anomalous phenomena specialist and expedition member. - Because the management forbade the helicopter crew to fly there. The fact is that in Soviet times a helicopter crashed in the "Bermuda triangle" of Lake Baikal.
Although the weather during the expedition was excellent, the balloonists constantly had to change the flight altitude. Unpredictable winds made it difficult to pilot the balloon at the same height.
