Scientists have reconstructed the appearance of a man who lived 9500 years ago in the biblical city of Jericho. His face was reconstructed from a skull in the British Museum. This is one of seven mysterious skulls that archaeologists discovered in 1953 in Jericho.
Unfortunately, we were unable to extract DNA from the skull, otherwise the reconstruction would have been much more accurate. We could find out not only the appearance of this person, but also the color of his eyes and hair. We did not take the risk of extracting DNA for fear of destroying the fragile bones of this skull, scientists say.
Scientists say this man died in adulthood. For unknown reasons, his skull is deformed and unnaturally elongated. The Jericho skulls are very mysterious. They are covered with clay and then decorated with various patterns. But at the same time, each of these heads had individual features.
For some unknown reason, all the skulls, all the teeth were broken. According to scientists, this was done after the death of people, whose skulls were then subjected to ritual processing.
