Diva Dodola was the granddaughter of Svarog and the daughter of Semargl. Perun and Veles were in love with her, but the beauty made her choice in favor of the Thunder God Perun, which made her former bosom friends forever enemies. After a noisy wedding of the young, Dodola was nicknamed Perynia, or Perunitsa, and she was a match for her husband, because she controlled the elements of rain, thunderstorms and lightning. She patronized summer and all vegetation on Earth. Assistant to girls and young wives.

An explanation is needed here. The fact is that "Perun" is not a proper name. "Perun" is a word that in the Old Russian language had two meanings: 1. lightning; 2. a throwing javelin (dart). Both, in fact, were the feathers of the magic Firebird. In the Western tradition, this concept has remained unchanged, because the main weapons of Perun's prototypes - Zeus and Jupiter - were peruns (lightning). Therefore, we can assume that Perun, like Perunitsa, are the nicknames of those who possessed the Peruns, the weapon of the gods.

The Sabines, a Slavic tribe that once lived on the territory of modern Italy next to the Etruscans and Venets, called this goddess Flora, and now she is considered to be a character of ancient Roman mythology. But it is obvious that Dodola and Flora are one and the same goddess, because even the day of their glorification fell on the same date - May 16, both among the Eastern Slavs and the Apennines. And in Greek mythology, this goddess was called Chlorida.

However, there was also a winter holiday, during which Dodola was glorified. This day was considered the final turn from winter to summer and it fell on February 15 (lute). They say that in ancient times, on Perynin's day, winter, or in other words, dry thunderstorms necessarily happened, when during a snowfall, silent white arrows-lightning rushed to the ground from clouds. Personally, I was lucky to be an eyewitness to this rare phenomenon that happened over Lake Pskov in 2011. Therefore, for me, the question is not whether it is fiction or a real phenomenon.

By the way, the Serbs call Dodola "Gromnitsa" or "Malanitsa", and the holiday on February 15th is listed as "Svjetlo". Winter lightning is perceived by them as a symbol of hope, a ray of light that allows mortals not to forget that darkness is always replaced by light, and summer will come after winter. On the day of winter Perunitsa, our ancestors said, winter meets summer, and by the weather set on the holiday, one could judge the coming summer.

What is the weather on Perunitsa, so will the whole spring: if a thaw is established, then it will be early and warm; and if frosts hit, wait for a long and rainy spring. A blizzard on this day was considered a sure omen of a late and cold spring. But a sure omen of a high grain harvest, there were drops on Perunitsa.

The very same ceremony of celebration on this day was not particularly original. Residents of villages and villages went out into the streets to light and lift a straw doll called Erzovka on a pole. Then, until the straw was completely burnt out, Erzovka was carried down the street, and young couples asked Dodola, referring to her through Erzovka, for love and the birth of children in the coming summer. And then, as on Shrovetide, they jumped over the fires, and plentifully treated themselves to pancakes and hot sbitn. To be bored and sad on this day was considered a sin, and like it or not, go and dance!

And few people know today that this ancient pagan holiday had another name, which was most widespread. Perrynin's day was called "Presentation". Presentation is a forgotten ancient word meaning meeting, descent. In this case, the convergence of winter and summer. Among the Eastern Slavs, the ceremonial side of the holidays was mainly chaste, like the worldview in general. There are, of course, exceptions, because on Kupala and Yarilin's day, young people allowed themselves such liberties that it is rather difficult to describe them without blushing. But compared to the orgies that European pagans put on, our young couples looked like innocent babies.

So, on February 15, in the Apennines, festivals called "Lupercalia" in honor of the faun Luperc, eager for young maidens and boys, were held everywhere. At their core, the Lupercalia were simply unbridled orgies based on massive sin of the bunch. At the same time, same-sex relationships were the most common thing there, which was impossible even to imagine in Russia. This is probably why homosexuals in the United States since 1970 have chosen Valentine's Day as their main holiday. What does Valentine have to do with it?

When Christianity began to conquer our world, the church fathers quickly realized that if there was no way to change something, then it was necessary to lead the process. That is why pagan holidays, which were celebrated for centuries before the appearance of Christians, were simply renamed, and their essence was distorted. In the Christianity of the Constantinople branch of the new Jewish religion, which now calls itself Orthodoxy, Presentation has remained the Presentation, although its meaning has completely changed. For reference:

And in the schismatic church, which in Greek is called "Catholic" (cephal, that is, independent), they decided to shift the holiday back one day, to February 14, when Valentine's Day was celebrated. And in terms of meaning, the day of the "saint" was very close to the Lupercalia. To make this obvious, you need to know who the so-called Saint Valentine was:

More recently, in this block of the electronic encyclopedia in the column "Patron", it was written: "lovers, newlyweds, seriously ill, epileptics and homosexuals." Unfortunately, I can no longer prove this, because I did not take a screenshot, because it never occurred to me that someone could delete one word from this column. And in the English version exactly the same thing happened.

In the history of this Catholic saint, not everything is as simple as it seems at first glance. It is enough to know about such a fact, for example, that not all Catholics recognize the canonization of Valentine, because the true biographies of him are hidden deep from the eyes of the curious, and they may contain some details that will call into question the sanctity of this priest. And there is every reason to admit the likelihood of the validity of the doubts of the Puritan-minded part of Western Christians.

Well, tell me, how can a person who has never had children and is not married because of celibacy - a vow of celibacy and refusal of any worldly relationships with representatives of the opposite sex, which Valentine gave when he was tonsured a monk, can be the patron saint of lovers? But these are still flowers, suddenly he was really a saint. But after all, he violated the law issued by Emperor Claudius II about the prohibition of marriage for soldiers in military service. So Valentine was a criminal. And that's a fact.

But what motive he was guided by in going to the crime is a particularly interesting question. As you know, the main motive at all times was self-interest. And according to many researchers, this version is true for Valentine's case, which was investigated and then proven guilty in court. Wasn't the criminal being punished too harshly? Are heads cut off for faith and the manifestation of acts of philanthropy? Doubtful. Apparently, Valentin faced more severe charges.

And most historians agree that the girls were not delivered to the barracks unselfishly. And Valentine married them with hot young legionnaires for an hour or two. If the soldier wanted to "continue the banquet," then he had to pay extra. Thus, we come to the conclusion that Valentine was an ordinary pimp, who was executed for procuring, and not at all for religious beliefs, as they are now trying to convince us.

But many researchers go even further in their assumptions, and the LGBT community itself, which considers Valentine as its patron saint, gives a reason to listen to them. According to many scientists, Valentin married soldiers and … with men. And this was already a grave crime, for which the death penalty does not seem at all a harsh and unjust punishment. So the saying “there is no smoke without fire” is the most appropriate phrase that comes to mind to everyone who is trying to understand this issue.

It would seem, well, what do we care today about some monks of antiquity, and even about criminals? However, the question is very relevant. The imposition of alien, unnatural for us Western values is not so harmless as it seems to the uninitiated. In addition to the fact that this is a banal squeezing of money from the pockets of the consumer (the American company "Hallmark" earned more than $ 4 billion from the sale of "Valentines" only in 2007), but it is also one of the methods of waging information war. Along with St. Patrick's Day and Halloween, Valentine's Day is crowding out the indigenous cultural values of peoples, which are their property, subject to protection and preservation. Influences at the subconscious level on the spirituality of the population of entire countries, turning them into consumers of the cult of permissiveness, immoral lifestyle, violence and cruelty.

Russian publicist Ilya Morozov wrote the following about this:

It is said emotionally, perhaps harshly, but hardly anyone would dare to challenge the author's correctness.

And, here's one more detail … Since childhood I have been struggling with the question of why it is customary to depict the symbol of the heart graphically in this form, and not another. Is this badge, in the form of which the printing houses print postcards for St. Valentine, even remotely resembles the shape of a human heart? Then what is it? There were guesses, of course, but I drove them away, considering them indecent. However, you cannot throw out the words from the song, but the obvious will sooner or later turn into reality, no matter how explanations it is provided by hundreds of respected scientists.

The psychologist Goldino Pranzarone confirmed my vague doubts. He is sure that the heart symbol depicted on the cards has nothing to do with this organ. According to the scientist, the ancients practically copied it from the female buttocks. Cupid (or Cupid) is another symbol of pure and beautiful love. But few people know that in ancient Greece, where he was called Eros, celebrations were held in honor of this plump baby with a bow and a quiver of arrows, the so-called. erotica, reuniting in a love impulse, including persons of the same sex.

In general, my goal was not to strive to combat cosmopolitanism. I only voiced my own reflections on the historical background of the replacement of the names and meaning of the ancient holidays. And how to treat new holidays is everyone's business. If celebration and bright joy are present in the souls of people, then there is probably no reason to cancel the holidays.
