Most of our readers have probably never even heard of the "nine unknown" saviors of the world. Of all the secret societies, this was probably the most secret. Historians are not even sure if it really existed.

However, if we collect bit by bit everything that is known about the society of the "nine unknowns" (they are also called the "council of nine" or "union of nine"), we get the following story:

The wise Indian ruler Ashoka (lived from 273 to 232 BC) was very concerned about mankind's tendency to self-destruction. He decided that people will always strive to use the achievements of their own progress and the fruits of their own intelligence for evil - for the sake of conquest and enrichment. And it is necessary to protect the achievements of mankind from himself.

It was clearly impossible to solve this problem by prohibitions. Therefore, Ashoka created a secret society, the core of which, besides himself, consisted of eight brilliant minds, whose names no one can name with certainty. It was rumored that the "nine unknowns" at various times included such geniuses as the artist and inventor Leonardo da Vinci, the doctor and alchemist Paracelsus, Pope Sylvester II and many others.

The nine brothers made sure that potentially dangerous knowledge did not end up in the possession of ambitious fools in power. They have created an extensive network of agents, recruiting outstanding representatives of various fields: astrologers, physicists, philosophers, alchemists, etc. However, recruits gained access to very limited knowledge about the organization. Only nine "brothers" had a complete picture, only they knew the whole plan. When one of the nine died, another chosen one took his place. This number has remained unchanged to this day.

To recruit new agents, Ashoka and his followers sent their people to the most progressive countries in the world, most often under the guise of merchants or representatives of the business community. In addition to attracting outstanding specialists to their side, they were engaged in collecting information about new knowledge and achievements of human genius. Then all this invaluable data went to secret laboratories for further analysis and new research, and then settled in excellently protected secret archives.

Perhaps the presence of such a "storehouse of wisdom" explains the amazing predictions made at different times. For example, in 1636, an article was published describing the principle of operation of the electric telegraph, in 1729, in another work, the principle of obtaining photographic images was outlined. Not to mention the numerous “guesses” of the great Leonardo about submarines, helicopters and much more.

Be that as it may, the "nine unknown" failed to save humanity from wars, barbarism and cruelty. However, who knows, perhaps without them this planet would have long since turned into one scorched desert?
