Russian scientists are convinced that there will be no repetition of the global catastrophe that killed the dinosaurs in its time. The forecasts of scientists are cited by TASS correspondents.

“The end of the world will not come on Earth caused by the fall of a celestial body such as an asteroid. There will be no catastrophe similar to the one that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs, - Pavel Skripnichenko, an employee of the Department of Astronomy and Geodesy of the Ural Federal University named after V. I. Yeltsin.

The scientist explains such optimistic forecasts by the presence of highly developed technologies in humanity.

“We already have sufficiently developed technologies that can track asteroids potentially dangerous to the Earth. We also have ways to destroy them,”said a university employee.

Skripnichenko noted that countering global threats on our planet is much more effective than countering local threats.

“We will definitely detect asteroids 100-120 meters in diameter in advance. It is the fall of such celestial bodies that can cause a global catastrophe on Earth. These asteroids are tracked, and their trajectory is predictable,”the scientist emphasized.

In turn, Sergei Zamozdra, associate professor of the Department of Theoretical Physics at Chelyabinsk State University, recalls that there is a class of giant celestial bodies tens of kilometers in diameter, which have not yet been discovered by scientists. At the same time, he also noted that technologies do not stand still and predicted that such objects will soon be discovered by scientists.
