In May, the Cosmopoisk research association summed up the results of observations of unidentified flying objects in 2015. The collection of information was carried out through the UFOnetwork program, which allows you to quickly receive information from UFO eyewitnesses from different countries.

A total of 211 evidences of UFO sightings in the sky were collected in 2015, which is comparable to the figures for previous years. In the past few years, the annual number of observations turned out to be slightly more than two hundred cases. More than half (111) of messages were received from Russia, 15 from the CIS countries and 75 from other countries. In addition, there were 10 reports of UFO sightings in space, and not over the territory of a particular country. 35 of these 211 messages were immediately rejected as having a rational explanation (observation of a known natural phenomenon or man-made object).

These statistics are only about messages that have passed the initial examination. Less than 10% of photographic images received by "Kosmopoisk" with unidentified objects are of interest. Observers often mistake interference, dust or moisture on the lens, or any shooting defects for UFOs. There are also intentional fakes in the number of photos sent. In 2015, the most famous forgeries were stories about "a UFO that disappeared into the sea", "the appearance of the second moon in the Krasnodar Territory", "a hole in the Earth, visible from space."

In Russia, UFOs were most often observed from the territory of Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, Altai, Karelia; from the territory of Ukraine, most of the messages came from the Odessa, Sumy and Kiev regions. The map shows the geography of observations. It can be seen that a comparison of the evidence collected through the UFO network program, in a number of cases, allows one to formulate hypotheses about the trajectories of the UFO flight. Interestingly, the distribution of UFO activity by seasons differs from the typical pattern. Usually the largest number of reports occurs during the summer months, since the weather during this period is most favorable for observing the sky. However, in 2015, UFOs were most often seen during the fall and winter months. The reasons for these bursts in the frequency of observations are still unclear. In previous years, using the analysis of the data of the UFO network program, such surges have already been predicted, so it is possible that the new data will also be built into a general scheme.

The most powerful bursts were associated with the arrival of similar messages from different points, which makes it possible to say with confidence that the observed phenomena were of a nonlocal nature. In some cases, the sequence of eyewitness reports allows the direction of movement of the object to be established.

The change in the frequency of appearance of various forms of unidentified flying objects corresponds to a cyclical pattern identified by "Cosmopoisk" earlier. Cigar-shaped, disc-shaped, and elliptical-shaped objects were observed more frequently, while cloud, ball, rectangle or triangle-shaped objects became smaller.

During 2015 "Cosmopoisk" conducted several dozen expeditions and trips related to the topic of ufology. Researchers checked 21 reports of crop circles, but in almost all cases, the circles were the result of natural phenomena or human activities. The only exception was one message. In 2016, the analysis of new data on UFOs and crop circles will continue in order to identify patterns in their appearance.
