If the Loch Ness monster is completely harmless, that is, it has never eaten anyone yet, unless it frightened, then such a monster living in the Kazakh lake Kok-Kol is far from being so fearful, and therefore unsafe. It is no coincidence that local residents, including researchers and local historians, do not seek to meet with him, even if it is of some interest to science.
Lake Kok-Kol is very beautiful in itself, it was not for nothing that it was named that way, because in Russian it means - Blue Lake. In addition, this purest reservoir is surrounded by no less beautiful majestic mountains, but it is fraught with something terrible and ominous. Firstly, this lake is considered to be bottomless. When people hear this, some round their eyes in horror, others begin to grin skeptically, they say, how is it without a bottom, but this cannot be.
No, the bottom, of course, should be, but in some places it is not served by an echo sounder, moreover, its incredible unevenness suggests that this body of water is connected through underground rivers with other huge water reservoirs, most likely underground. If we add to this the glacial origin of the lake, then all its other secrets become more understandable and at least somehow explainable.
Because, secondly, the Kok-Kol lake behaves strangely. Fantastic ripples appear on its surface, which have nothing to do with the wind, or strange funnels appear that suck in all the debris from the surface. Finally, eerie, inexplicable sounds are constantly heard here, not to mention the fact that animals and people often disappear on the lake.
The latter is attributed to a snake-like monster that lives in the lake. Locals call him water spirit or Aydahar. This snake periodically floats to the surface of Kok-Kol, and then trouble is for those who find themselves in the field of reach of its terrible mouth. Moreover, say the aborigines, Aydahar can crawl out for his prey even ashore.

Sometimes this happens in front of witnesses. So a local shepherd once grazed sheep near the lake, in which people were swimming at that time. Suddenly, a strange ripple passed over the surface of the reservoir. And then the swimmers screamed wildly. The shepherd only noticed the bends of the snake-like monster in the place where people had just been, and then silence fell - he no longer saw the monster or people.
Another case about the meeting with Aydahar was told by the local historian A. Pechersky. Like every inquisitive researcher, he did not really believe in the monster Kok-Kol, and therefore one day he went with his son to the lake to check or refute this legend. Fortunately for them, they had not yet had time to sail far from the coast in a boat, when they noticed the strange activity of birds in the distance. Suddenly, in that place, a snake-like monster appeared, which was heading towards the father and son. They barely managed to swim to the shore and run away from the water. When they looked around again, they realized that the monster did not pursue them, but swam away, hiding in the depths of this bottomless reservoir. As Pechersky later wrote, the snake was at least fifteen meters long, dark, with a huge head and some kind of hypnotic eyes that made you even get scared,and at the same time strive to merge with this gaze.
Aboriginal people also say that they often witnessed how Aydahar trapped an animal that had gape or came to drink to the lake and easily dragged it to the bottom. And so scary stories are born that even scientists are forced to believe in a monster. Some of the researchers believe that, perhaps, this is an ancient reptile, somehow preserved from the period of the domination of dinosaurs on Earth.
