Lake Lago Azzurro (translated into Russian simply Blue Lake) is located in the Alps at an altitude of 1853 meters above sea level. A pond with a rocky bottom, surrounded by a forest, is considered one of the most beautiful places in Italy. However, this year all beauty has evaporated along with the water.
Italian photographer Marco Pugliese, who came to photograph the lake, unveiled an eerie shot of Lago Azzurro. It shows that only bare earth and stones remained of the lake. For comparison, Pugliese posted a photo of the Blue Lake, taken last fall - it clearly shows why people admired this place. “Perhaps it is worth thinking about the economical use of water,” the photographer writes. Pugliese also noted that most of the lakes and glaciers he has visited recently are also "not very good."
Scientists believe that the reason for the drying up of the lake lies in the very hot summer with minimal rainfall. This is not the first disappearance of Lago Azzurro: the lake completely dried up in 2005 and 2006. Then ecologists suggested that it disappeared forever - but after artificial filling, Lago Azzurro began to fill again naturally.
