A man walked among the deserted rocks and accidentally saw on the ground a strange, almost fossilized object, similar to a coin. Nearby among the stones, he spotted another. The tourist put the finds in a backpack, and on his return from the hike showed the coins to archaeologists. There was no limit to the surprise of the latter: it turned out that the coins were almost 800 years old and were from Spain.

Modern history believes that America was discovered by Columbus and it happened in 1492. In the central parts of America, in the territory of the present states of Arizona and Utah, the Spaniards and settlers arrived only in 1776. How coins appeared in the area, which by that time were already 500 years old, is a mystery.

Naturally, now the main version of scientists is that the coins were lost by one of the settlers. But the first Spaniards who crossed the continent in the hope of finding a way to the Pacific Ocean were not distinguished by their love of antiquity. They were just looking for land to get rich. It's strange to find five hundred year old coins in their pockets.

Now archaeologists are planning to return to the site and conduct a larger search there. They hope that if you dig deeper, the earth will provide at least some of the answers to the origin of the coins.
