The European Space Agency has recently added to the catalog of celestial bodies that threaten the Earth - the so-called Risk List. Astronomers recorded the asteroid 2019 SU3 as the "fourth number". It is not a fact that this block will necessarily crash into our planet. But the probability of impact is very high - 1 in 147. And any chance, like gravitational interaction with other celestial bodies, can increase it.

A potentially dangerous asteroid was discovered on September 23, 2019. He is from the Apollo group, that is, it revolves around the Sun, making one revolution in 418 days. Periodically crosses the orbit of our planet, flying up to it at a speed of about 11 kilometers per second. And thus threatens.

The size of the 2019 SU3 is not exactly known. Astronomers have estimated it approximately, in accordance with the brightness of this celestial body. And they reassured: the asteroid seems to be no more than 30 meters in diameter. Therefore, even if it does crash into the Earth, it will not bring big troubles. Will do something a little stronger than the Chelyabinsk meteorite.

In total, according to ESA estimates, at the moment, as they say, in the next 100 years, 878 asteroids will seriously threaten our planet. Including 700-meter block 1979HB and 375-meter Apophis (99942). They are expected on December 14, 2113 and April 12, 2068, respectively.
