Thousands of people in Sweden have implanted special chips that use RFID technology into their hands. Implants can replace a passport, bank cards and even apartment keys.
According to Biohax, since the introduction of the technology five years ago, more than four thousand people have acquired chips. Devices that are installed between the thumb and forefinger of the hand can be read by any type of device that supports NFC technology. This means that most modern smartphones can recognize them.
The chips do not need to be recharged as they have no battery.
The implants perform the function of identification, can contain information about cards and the electronic signature of the carrier, as well as data on plane tickets, the Independent reports.
Earlier News.ru wrote that the electronic passport of a Russian citizen, in addition to personal data that is in a regular paper document, will contain information about the fingerprint and the electronic signature of the owner. The novelty will become the key of identification in the digital space.
