A Chinese quantum satellite was launched into orbit two years ago. The other day, Chinese physicists have set a record again by transmitting data over a secure channel between the Austrian city of Graz and the Chinese Xinglong. The distance between cities is over 7 thousand kilometers.

The developers explained that the purpose of the experiment is to demonstrate the performance of this network. Therefore, they set everything up, and after that they sent the information first to one and then to the other end. This means that in the near future, Chinese specialists will be able to design an intercontinental quantum network and use it to transmit information. This, according to the participants in the experiment from the Austrian side, opens up new opportunities for the development of a full-fledged quantum Internet, the creation of which is not far off.

Due to the phenomenon of quantum entanglement, such data transmission cannot be hacked, so the possibility of hacking or eavesdropping is completely excluded. The developers are confident that quantum technologies will be widely used in the future.
