“Nighttime is the ideal time for an abduction. At night, the disappearance of the abductees has a greater chance of remaining undetected and the aliens will be able to provide maximum "concealment". In addition, if the abductant is asleep, the event may remain hidden as part of the dream. Although "sleep" may be much more vivid and of an unusual quality, it is still within the acceptable realm of experience.
At the beginning of the night abduction, the Beings enter the room by means of light coming through the window. How the use of light can transform and transport matter is unknown. A frightened person calms down when the creatures come and look into his eyes. The Small Being then touches the abductor's shoulder or arm. He feels himself floating out of bed. He is attracted to the light and enveloped in it. He floats in the light. Small creatures are nearby. Then, without hindrance, the abductee together with the accompanying persons pass directly through the closed window to the outside. He has no definite physical sensation when passing through a window.
While abductees often report movement through walls and ceilings, creatures seem to be more comfortable using windows. Sometimes aliens lead abductees from bedrooms to another room with a window. One day, a woman visited friends with her son. They slept in two different rooms in the basement. The abduction sequence began and the aliens removed her from the bed and headed to her son's room. Then they took her son and went to the bathroom. She wondered why they had gone to the bathroom and then realized that it was the only room with a window in the basement. Soon there was a bright light and they flew out through the window.
Despite hundreds of reports of people flying out through closed windows, it is extremely rare to find an outside bystander to observe this. Therefore, while it seems impossible, the physical mechanism that allows humans to pass through solid objects likely makes them invisible, at least for this part of the abduction experience.
Such a flight can be extremely unpleasant. Many abductees experience nausea and dizziness, which are exacerbated by fear and confusion. When the abducted climbs up, roofs and tops of trees disappear from view, and stars fall into the field of view. During the upward movement, a person is only dimly aware of his body; he may not even be able to see it. The Abductant continues his journey, then approaches the light source and swims into the UFO.
When I met Barbara Archer in 1987, she was a diminutive, twenty-one-year-old journalism student. She was filled with fear and anxiety as she recalled fragments of strange events that affected her life. During six sessions of hypnosis, she was able to vividly recall her extraordinary experiences. One night, when she was sixteen years old, she was getting ready to go to bed when she noticed a light falling through the window. When she closed the curtain, the light continued to illuminate the entire room. She looked out, but was unable to see the source. During the hypnosis session, she remembered what happened at the beginning of the event. I asked her how she felt when she saw the light.

Hmm, when I first saw the light in the room, I was scared, because I could not understand what it was.
So you are puzzled?
Yes. I have to look from another window because I can see more of the sky. But I just don't … It's still light here. I sit here for a while and look out of the window, and then I turn around because I think there might be someone here. At first I thought it was a dog. After a while, I stop looking out of the window because there is nothing there.
You turn around and look inward - do you feel that …?
Um, the light seems to fade away. It no longer completely fills the room. When I turn around, someone is standing here next to the closet.
Is this subject large, medium or small?
He's smaller than me. I'm not so shocked to see him … I think he came up when I was standing at the window … I think he touches my hand. He seems to be touching me in the area of the wrist, between the elbow and the wrist. I feel better - I mean I'm not afraid anymore.
When it touches your wrist, what happens next?
Hmm, I turn back to the window, the side window I was looking out of. I kind of get up.
Good. Is it going through the curtain?
Yes. I think I pulled the curtain down. I don't remember picking it up. And we just go out. Oh, I feel dizzy … It's terrible.
Do you feel like you are moving horizontally?
No, up.
Vertically up, like an elevator or …?
Yes. Straight up.
Can you feel the movement, or do you just think you are climbing?
I feel like I’m in an elevator, except that there are no walls around, it’s just accelerating up….
Can you see anything from the outside?
When we flew out of the window, we were moving right between two townhouses - my house and the house of my nearest neighbor. The houses move a little back and there is a space between my bedroom and the bedroom opposite, it looks like a small passage. And I move straight up between them. This way I can see everything. I see all the townhouses on the street along the road. I feel very nauseous … I hope I don't get sick.
(I assured Barbara that the sensation would pass and she would not get sick.) Do you feel like you are heading for a specific location?
We are moving straight up. I look down and see trees and everything on the street, and it makes me feel a little scared because I really don't like the height. Not scary, but it makes the feeling of nausea a little stronger. And after that we go straight up. I know we are heading to some place.
Do you feel the environment? Can you feel the wind? Cold? Do you feel like you're outside?
Doesn't feel cold or anything like that. Just a feeling of body temperature.
Do you feel like you can be closed about something? Is there something protecting you from the external environment?
I can not tell. I don't feel anything, no touch.
In this way, you are still going up.
Yes.
Can you see that you are approaching something?
Yes. When I look up, I can see the base, seemingly large, I think it is round, but still elongated. It looks like an oval. I can see the base - it looks like a gray, dark gray.
Is it big or small or are you too far away?
Hmm, it's big, but not huge. I remember the moment before, and it's not that big.
Are you getting close to him?
Mm hmm. It feels like there is some kind of light around me, along which we follow up. And we're getting closer to the point where it comes from, inside this big thing.
Are you moving towards the center or to the side?
Yes, to the center, from below. We go right through the base.
Is the other subject still with you?
Yes. I think he is still here. When we arrive, there is someone here waiting for us inside the UFO. (Barbara Archer, age 16, 1982)
Other abductees report hovering horizontally over buildings and fields and landing in a field or isolated area. The UFO is in an open area, and the abductant and the aliens go to it, sometimes overcoming a considerable distance. Why this happens is unknown.
If the abductor is near other people during the abduction, then they are usually unconscious or motionless. Typically, they sleep throughout the abduction; if they wake up at the beginning of abductive activity, they are immediately put back to sleep. This "shutdown" procedure appears to be necessary to ensure secrecy and to minimize the impact on the lives of the non-abducted. Upon completion of the abduction, the non-abducted will be “turned on” and resume their normal activities. " / David M. Jacobs, Secret Life (1992), excerpt from Chapter 3.
In the article above, only one of the options for starting (phase 1) of the alien abduction process is described - removing the abductant from the house at night. To be continued…
