Scythia, Scythians, Scythians - these words seem to be familiar to everyone from childhood, for me the Scythians began from the moment when a ten-year-old school, who was in good standing in the library, got into the hands of a novelty - the book by Samuel Fingaret "Scythians in pointed hats". Do not be afraid of the foreign name and surname of the writer, such foreigners are of local Russian production and the Moscow spill. In the "most reading country", where books outside Moscow and Leningrad were not on the free sale, but they had to be DELIVERED, there was not much to choose at all … then this book was like a ray of sunshine breaking through the gray colors of toilet paper, history and adventure books - contemporaries of the cognitive format.
What best characterizes Shmulya Yosefovna as an author? Perhaps these lines from the biography: "in childhood she was most of all interested in fairy tales and ancient history, which she decided to make her profession," and here it is not even alarming that the "fairy tales" and identity of the content, which is by no means a secret for those who are engaged in this, but the fact that she decided to make it a profession … remember, perhaps, these slogans also: "We were born to make a fairy tale come true" and "We are ours, we will build a new world, Who was nobody - he will become everything! Actually, all the components from which the "Scythians" were sculpted, I painted in the previous parts, and the Scythomania itself began with the notes of a certain "Herodotus", who still remains the most recognized authority in this area. When it was decided that the “Scythians” would be the ancestors of the “Eastern Slavs” (read Russians), the real work began for official historians, whose fantasies had degenerated over the past 70 years into an undisclosed “fact of existence” of the Scythians, and an article from Wikipedia became its reflection. The surprises start right from the start
That is, look: for example, the Russian language had no written language, only a few Russian words remained known, well, for example, “headmistress”, “prostitute”, “photography” and “scandal”, and OH MIRACLE! The subchapter on the origin of ethnonyms is quite informative. I don’t know what to offer to read about these interesting formations right off the bat, but if the official version is interesting, this should be fine … Why am I nodding at the OI when speaking about this? That is, the "Scythians" are those groups of strikingly heterogeneous origin and religion, based in point settlements in hard-to-reach places, who wandered along this analogue of the "wild west", which they did not call: Pechenegs-pacinaks, and roamers, and hayduks, and gentry, and naked, and in the end it was decided that they were … Cossacks. PS In this regard, I would also like to mention the gigantic role of the “Greek colony” of Olbia, which pursued an absolutely independent policy and, judging by the statement of the OI, connected with the metropolis exclusively in connection with the supply of bread and cattle.
