France

He is described as a tall creature, emaciated and thin, dressed in black clothes, with long white hair, covered with a hat with wide brims. He has a braid on his shoulder, which is sharpened against human bones.
It is believed that the one who meets Anka will die himself in the near future, or death will overtake someone close.

In England there is a legend about the Barghest. It is a ghost that takes the form of a large black dog and roams the cemeteries. She has big burning eyes and great strength.

Spirits - who are they?
Many people see spirits that come to them in the form of deceased loved ones. The reaction to such a visit differs from person to person. Some are happy to communicate, others cry and get scared, avoid contact.
At its core, spirits are the sounds of our soul, our memory. Each of us has people whom we have lost and we greatly miss them. Then they come to us.
There are cultures in which ancestors are worshiped and the return of the dead is considered normal. Each culture has its own established superstitions regarding spirits. In Europe, they believe that spirits come at night, their arrival is accompanied by extraneous odors, they should not be touched. But there are also meetings with spirits in the daytime. It's just easier to spot them at night. Often people observe the phenomenon in a half-drowsy state. Most of these can be attributed to the category of hallucinations.
If you read the Bible carefully, it says that at the Second Coming, everyone will meet with their loved ones and go to heaven with them. There is no need to be afraid of spirits, they belong to our inner world. These are our thoughts, feelings, memory. You don't have to be afraid of yourself.
